Just got off the phone with an accounts supervisor from Ohio. Basically, they thought they had a deal and SNY came back with something else and they pulled the deal off the table. He told me to call SNY. I did and SNY is not answering their phones. Gutless people at SNY.
Looks like the 40% interest Comcast and Time Warner have with SNY is carrying more weight at the moment than Wilpon's 60% desire to have a deal......
I recommend all satellite viewers who want SNY to speak to a friend who gets SNY and hook them up with a "slingbox". Check it out at www.slingmedia.com. (In fact, DISH just invested 40 million dollars with them). It allows you to connect into your friend's cable box and watch SNY (and the Mets) on your computer (and/or TV with a PC to TV converter) by simply downloading the slingbox software and putting-in your friend's slingox ID. Both you and your friend need a high speed internet connection; the slingbox costs about $200 and connects to your friend's internet router.
You'd have the added bonus of screwing cable (by not giving them extra subscription money which is what they want by denying DirecTv or Dish a reasonable deal, and you can watch the Mets whereever you travel with a laptop and a high speed connection is available (and presuming your friend is tuned to the Mets).
