Any chances of Dish showing Colors in HD?
Hello warko01! Unfortunately, there is no news on Colors HD being added on Dish Network. As far as I know, Colors HD has not formally launched outside of India.
Quizzer, how do you like Dishworld. Planning to switch. Are the channels in true Hd. How is the connection in terms of buffering? Thanks in advance.
Hello Nina! I also have DishWorld. The prices are actually slightly lower than the Dish Network satellite service and the quality is exactly the same. For instance, to get Star Plus HD, Zee TV HD, Sony HD, Colors, Life OK and Rishtey on DishWorld, the minimum package is $30 per month. To get the same channels on Dish Network, the minimum package costs $35 per month. As an added bonus, DishWorld also provides Zoom, NDTV 24x7 and News18 India for free to all subscribers, in addition to free access select Bollywood on-demand movies. The "mega pack," which includes all available channels, is only $45 per month on DishWorld, but costs $55 per month on Dish Network. In addition, there are no commitments, but if you plan on keeping the service for a year, you may be eligible to receive a 10% off discount with one-year commitment. The HD channels (e.g., Star Plus, Zee TV and Sony) stream at 3.7 Mbps and have excellent picture quality, while the SD channels stream at 2 Mbps and have decent picture quality. The picture quality on the Indian SD channels does not match American SD channels, so I believe they could be improved, but that is the way they are broadcast on all platforms, including Dish Network. Essentially, you'll want an internet connection of at least 6 Mbps for the service to run, but I recommend 25 Mbps or higher for it to run smoothly. If you plan on watching the service on a Roku, the DishWorld app runs best on the Roku 3. The biggest highlight of the service is that you can go back and watch any program from any channel aired in the past week, with play/pause, fast forward, rewind and 30-second skip functions. This enables you to watch what you want at your convenience and skip commercials, without the need for an expensive DVR service.
