Ok, just bought a 50" dlp HD tv and have to say I am quite happy with it. However I have it hooked to a R-15 DVR with no HD programming. My question is will it be worth the investment?? In other words will I see a big improvement with picture quality or am I farther ahead to keep the setup I have now??
Thanks,
frank

HD is the way to go after buying an HDTV.

You will incur an $11 fee each month for DirecTV's HD package.

"Discovery HD Theater" alone, is worth the investment! :)
May the Force be with your HR20!

I have read that the HR20 looks better on SD than some receivers.

I am hoping this is true in my case!

It is true...you will get a better SD picture on the HR20...by the way, the HD
package is $9.99....got my HR20 installed on 09/16 and the football games
on my local stations in HD were unbelievable Saturday night (college) and
Sunday (NFL)...if you call 1-800-824-9081, you can get the HR20 for
$19.95...just have to sign up for 2 year lease...no big deal for me as had
since 2000 wiht DTV...

I agree completely!! I don't know why, but there clearly is an improvement in the SD picture with the HR20.

If it's got a good upscaler then there can be an SD improvement. My TV has a built in upscaler which improves SD somewhat so it'll be interesting to see what this box does.
