I noticed on bestbuy.com that they have replaced the hr20-700 with an hr20-700S. What is the S? It says that its "coming soon" instead of out of stock. Is there a hardware revision in the works here?

No, the one that I got from BB several weeks ago had the "S" tagged at the end of it too. I don't know why they put it there. BB is the only place I have seen it with the "S" at the end. It's the same thing.

Looking at my best buy order again from a month ago, it says hr20-250 so I guess best buy just doesn't have any clue what the model number is :).

There's a glossy piano black version of the HR20 in the works- set to roll out by Christmas. 'S' is for Silver.

Strange convention - I would have expected HR20S-700 as the 700 is the manufacturer.

Typo on their part, or the marketing material they received.
There is only 1 model of the HR20

He's referring to the model # you put in when setting up a Harmony remote to control the HR20. HR20-700 works fine in the Harmony setup as well, you don't need to put the "S" at the end.

Yes that is what I was referring too. I use the 550 Harmony. Maybe I didn't word my last post as well as I should have.

When the installer came on September 15, 2006 he handed me two HR20-700S units. So I don't think it's only Best Buy.
2 HR20-700S (0xef) [Owned/Factory: MFG 8/29/2006&10/08/2006]
1 HR10-250 (6.3a-01-2-357) [Owned/Factory MFG 5/2006]
AT-9

OK. I don't have that remote, so no wonder I had no idea what you meant.

I think the S stands for short bus based on bugs and apparent code defects. ;)

Remember Best Buy also had it listed as the HR20-250 on their site at the initial release time.

I think the S is for ..................nevermind, I don't want to get flamed out for profanity. :D I actually like my HR 20 since the last software update. (fingers crossed)
