Hi all,

After 7 years with DISH, I do believe we're going to switch to DirecTV, because of their new NASCAR package. Now I have a better understanding of you folks with Sunday Ticket!

We have a 622, 721 and a 508.

Couple of questions:
1. We got our HD set from DISH, originally with a 921. It's works great. Is it compatable with DirecTV HD receivers? Or did DISH put in some chip or something?

2. What DirecTV receivers will generally deliver the same performance as our 622, 721 and 508?

Many thanks!

1. Do you mean you're HD TV set? That should work fine with any video source, including DirecTV.

2. Better :)
HD DVRs: HR34-700; HR24-500; (2) HR20-700 + WD eSATA 1TB drive/Antec MX1 case; HR21-700; HR21-200 w/AM21
Receivers: H25-500 HD Receiver; H21-100 HD Receiver
Mobile Devices: Nomad

Nope, will not work..you will need to order up the AT9 dish along with
the HR20-700 HD DVR or the H20 (HDTV receiver only) SHOULD be able
to get this for $19.95 from Directv installed...however, you will have to sign
a 2 year agreement...

Hi all,

I know what a 622 is, but what is a 721 and 508?

:)

We DirecTV people don't understand those model numbers... A DirecTV HR-20 is the equivalent to a 622 but you may want to be cautious. The 622 is more "mature" than the HR-20. It's gotten better, but it's still a bit buggy.

If you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything.

UTFAN, correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the 721 and 508 are both SD DVRs. If so, then the R15 would be the DirecTV SD DVR. And as others said the HR20 would be the HD DVR that you currently have with the 622.

To clarify....
622 is a dual tuner HD receiver
721 is a dual tuner SD receiver
508 is a single tuner SD receiver

And again thanks for your thoughts and ideas.
