Well, after six months of irritating HR20 adventures, tonight it finally bit the dust. Will be calling Directv later, for replacement and credits. Had to do an RBR (v.120) and now the box just won't reboot, the blue circle keeps spinning and spinning, been waiting 15 minutes and nothing but a black screen. Usually, the first of two blue screens comes up within 1-2 minutes. Tried unplugging and all the other gyrations, short of a reset everything (which of course wipes out all your programming, SLs, etc.).

This box is a joke as a trustworthy consumer product. Flame away if you want, but it's completely unreliable for enough people to be a disaster. Chase Carey has been misinformed, because he surely wasn't referring to v.120 when he claimed "numerous" HR20s had been replaced, but everything is all better now for everyone via software fixes.

Can't call Directv right now, and have the trusty old R10 on. But I will be on with Retention soon enough.

Tstarn,

Tried the composite or S-vid connection? (I assume you did, but have to ask.)

Sorry for the issues. Good luck,
Tom

Fiddled around, and worked a little magic (like 3 RBRs) and it revived. It must have heard me typing.
