Has anyone else noticed that switching the remote to RF really wears out batteries? One week with a brand new set of Duracells. Am I watching entirely too much TV?

You could have a problem in the RF section of your remote. My HR20 is viewed about 14 hours a day and the batteries are the ones I got with the remote in September, using RF the whole time.

Equipment includes a buncha stuff that I no longer have interest in detailing
