A quick recommendation would be as follows:

Onkyo to TV via component

HR20 - Component and Optical to Onkyo

Samsung DVD HDMI to TV, Optical to Onkyo

Panansonic Combo - S-Video/RCA to Onkyo.

You will have to change TV inputs, which can be a PITA on a Samsung as I don't think it has discrete inputs, between component and HDMI. The Samsung DVD player needs to feed audio via HDMI for the upscaling of SD DVD's.

This scenario also assumes Optical inputs are assignable.

I believe the samsung dvd can also be connected via hdmi to the tv for video and opitcal /coax connection to onkyo for audio (5.1, DD). I don't think the samsung tv discrete inputs, but luckily it wil only progressively go through the ones that are connected.
Personally I prefer the HR20 picture with HDMI, though component is very close, but I believe that is a personal preference. It also depends on the number of HDMI inputs on the Samsung.

The TV is connected to the HR-20 Via HDMI AS per this forums recommendation..The TV only has one HDMI Conn.

In that case I'd either go HDMI from your DVD player to the TV, and component video from your HR-20 to the TV, or you can look at an HDMI switch port and keep HDMI for both. From what I've read here, component looks pretty good from the HR-20. You could change inputs at the TV and bypass the Onkyo altogether for your video if you chose. If you put the Onkyo in the video mix (easier input switching), you're limited only by what the Onkyo can do with video outputs.

I would probably use digital coax sound from the DVD to the Onkyo. The rest of the first suggestion sounds good to me.
