I have a question about the ViP622.

After I got my first ViP622 installed on October, I noticed that it would freeze up and reboot for no reason whatsoever. I got the original 622 when I upgraded to HDTV in October 2006, and it would do the reboot for no reason shortly after I got it. It happened several times; most noticeable on Christmas Eve, while watching “It’s A Wonderful Life” on WNBC in New York when the 622 rebooted 12 times in the last hour alone. Oddly enough, this would mostly happen on WNBC, during prime time (8-11 pm) and it rarely happened on any other channel, except when I tried to record the Charlie Brown Christmas special.
I got a second one in late November. However, since I moved Florida on 2/19/2007, it has yet to lock up and reboot for no reason, only time it reboots is when doing the 3 am update.

Has anyone else had this happen to them at all?

I was just wondering.

Peace,

Leprechuan

In the promise of another tomorrow
I'll never let you part for you're always in my heart."

Maybe when you moved to Florida they actually grounded the dish like they are supposed to . This would fix the reboot problems. Another thing might have changed. Was the 622 in a closed up cabinet with no ventilation? IF you stack the 622 in that kind of cabinet or if you stack it on top of another component or another component on top of the 622 , this will cause heat related problems.

Either way if its fixed , say a little prayer of thanks.

Well, the 622 was on a stand with the DVD sitting on top of it. Open air, not enclosed at all.
I'm hoping to get a 5.1 surround system to hook every thing up with, that is Father Christmas thinks I'm good enough.

So far, I've had not one problem with the unit since I got to Florida.

Let Go Mets!

Peace,

Were the reboots while watching/recordomg OTA or via satellite?

If it was OTA, it might have been garbage in the station's data stream.
