You are right there people's standards have really slid :( That word is now commonly used by many, many people :(
And I would be willing to bet that your kids, unless they are very, very young, have already heard people use that word. I don't like the word myself at all :nono2: But it is used all the time now :( :(

Dolly, it's interesting here in Kansas City. I as sportswriter/broadcaster back east. I still keep in touch with some of the guys I know in the media. Here in KC, it's anything goes. I hear them use the term "suck" (do they really know what that means?), "blow" and a bunch of other terms here. I hard one reporter here say that she hoped "Jake Plummer gets knocked on his (bottom)". And then she repeated herself.
If you go to Yankee Stadium and wear a shirt that says anybody "sucks", including the Red Sox, you're gone. The guys I worked with will cut you off on the air if you cross that line. I spoke to a few of them two years ago when they were here and they were shocked by what these guys say on the air. Unfortunately, here they don't really care. Some people consider themselves "edgy". But a lot of the top broadcasters in the sports realm are actually saddened by what these new clowns bring to the airwaves.

I have a two-year-old and a three-year-old. Do I ever want to hear them say these things? No and they'll hear about it if they do.

How interesting I would have thought the words would have been in use more in NY than KC :eek2: So much for the "Heartland of America". Where I live it is not used on TV, but people here use those words all the time :(

IMHO, Kyle apologized for the expletive, not the accident, it was CLEARLY Kenseth's fault. You dont go barrelling into the inside line like that in a 3400 lb stock car...worst yet wasnt it on the 1st or 2nd lap. Way too early to be trying a boneheaded move like that...

How many race car drivers do you think there are that don't use that word? Especially after being involved in a crash?

I don't know the history of the radios in the cars but I imagine they have been communicating with the pits this way for quite some time. How long have they been miked? Maybe keeping it clean is the last thing on their mind especially in that situation. Maybe it's habit. People will say things that just "slip" or that they regret when something like that happens. Especially if that is how they talk away from the spotlight. I know people who do not curse and have a clean mouth yet have said a few words when mad.

They have had scanners at the tracks for years and now with having the in car radio online, Nascar has enforced rules for the drivers/crews not to curse. Usually you don't hear about any fines unless they are big.

As far as Petty, I didn't hear it and I was wondering why the announcers said that, I was half paying attention. I didn't rewind, I thought they had caught it on TV, but not in their headset.

It's not "holier than thou" garbage. Do you want your kids being exposed to a lot of the crud that's on the air now? I've seen guys who were into all of the off-color stuff, the language, the sex, etc. It's ruined them.

Another of today's sad trends is the tendency for many people to openly boast of doing things that once would have led to shame and embarassment.

Remember the name (I'm sure we'll see it on CNN or Dr. Phil someday) and pity any woman who is foolish enough to even consider a relationship with him.

Take this comment and the one on how you hate people your own age, but I'll bet it's probably more the other way around. I don't know anybody who enjoys being around people with garbage mouths and is perverted.

I'd love to record it, but there's a special on paint drying that I want to see that night. Interesting ... cursing, profanity, porn, ... from somebody who blasted Anna Nicole Smith as being a loser? Not in this comparison.

Want to learn how the F words was started since the caveman time?

Just go to www.en.wikipedia.org and just type the word F*** on the search engine, and you will get the whole story!:D

English words are ment to be free from dumb censorship that is controled by FCC "Federal Censorship Commision":barf: IMHO the FCC needs to be overhauled sooner the better, we just don't need have to be a nanny state control!!

Pretty scary that you'd look it up on wikipedia. The FCC is needed for people who don't know what decency means. Maybe you don't need the FCC for censorship, but you may want to try some type of spell-check method.

No, I’m serious. I enjoy entertainment that pushes the envelope for shock value. Sorry, but I Love Lucy and Disney movies (although great undertones) just don’t do it for me. Words aren’t bad, some actions are bad, but I do not understand how words hurt. Every time I say the F word do you feel a sharp pain in your side? The whole idea of bad words in just ridiculous, if you look up the history on how profane words became profane, it really is quite comical. South Park, The Shield, NYPD Blue, all shows that are enjoyed by millions and very successful, so no it’s not that uncommon for people to enjoy edgier content.

As for porn, don’t watch it much. Anyone who visits porn sites or downloads porn online is an idiot. I have never had a virus or spyware on my computers and I plan to keep it that way. And I’m not paying $30 for one channel of TEN. I’m like most normal guys, a late night Skinamax at 1 in the morning every once in a while.

Some people can’t draw the line between TV and reality, and that’s exactly what’s going on here. So what, I sweat a lot, enjoy the occasional skin flick and watch South Park, play Grand Theft Auto and rock out to some of the most satanic metal around from bands like Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus and Satanic Slaughter does that make me a bad guy? If you think yes, I really don’t care. But I also used to volunteer at Meals on Wheels, in an annual local Kids Escaping Drugs event, I raise $400-$600 and I attend church services every week. Never been arrested, never had any contact with the authorities except for a few Health/Safety workshops I took in high school, never smoked, snuffed, ingested, injected or inhaled anything illicit in my life.

You can keep on eye out on Dr. Phill or Dateline stings but you'll never see my goofy mug on TV, but you can see it here.

Steve,
Here's the real deal. A few f-bombs here and there? Go use that language in front of your company's CEO and you'll be out the door before you know it. It's considered pretty offensive and most people feel pretty uncomfortable around people who use it. While you may find it comical, most people are pretty offended by it. It's the quickest way to break up a conversation. I've been in many conversations where somebody comes over and curses. As soon as that person leaves, eyes roll and I've heard many people say "what's wrong with that guy?". I can't tell you how many times I've heard that. If I had a dollar for each time, I could retire today.
Each time you push the envelope and desire that rush from being on the edge, you have to go a little farther to get that edge. Before you know it, you're over the cliff.
As far as the "once in a while" porn, that's not normal. Because of my job, I've had to live in seven different states. I can honestly say that I've had lots of friends all around the country and I don't know any who have ever rented porn or stayed up at 1 to watch Skinamax. In fact, I had never heard of it until it was listed in this blog. It's not normal to watch these things. It really corrupts your mind. Most of the guys who end up getting busted for these really weird porn things (like the cop last week who got arrested for using his cell phone to look up skirts) start out watching the late-night porn. It's very, very degrading to women (which includes all of our mothers, sisters, and daughters). If you find a girl you like, share about watching porn. You'll be dropped faster than a hot potato.
Don't kid yourself. Most, if not all, of these weirdos thought that they knew when to stop and found out they couldn't. It's the same way that alcoholism and gambling creeps into your system. It's an evil that sneaks up on you.
Many of those same people that are arrested for the real perverted crimes also did many of the same things you did. They were involved in church groups, helping others, etc. But the brainwashing that took place with the porn also got to them.
Going to church every week yet watching porn and listening to satanic metal just don't add up. Heck, the BTK killer from Wichita, KS was a boyscout leader and a leader in his church. I'm not sure which church or what type you go to, but even Satan himself knew the Bible, better than we do. In Matthew 4, he tempts Jesus while He's in the desert, using scripture to try to tempt Jesus.
I'm not trying to come across as a holier-than-thou person because I have sin in my life every day. I'm just trying to show you why these things are not considered normal and why they're really unacceptable to most people.

I don't know one guy who doesn't watch porn. As a matter of fact, if you're someone who is offended by porn, I probably wouldn't want to be around you anyway.

Slippery slope argument. BS.

If you find a girl you like, share about watching porn. You'll be dropped faster than a hot potato.

I've watched porn with them. It's pretty fun.

I was trying not to get involved in this argument, but you just took it too far. Your crazy views offend me, and I just had to step in.

I just hate the fact that he prayed as the race started and later uses the F word. It is Christians like him that tarnish the reputation of all Christians. I am just hoping it was a spiritual wake-up call for him. I know he is a good person but comments like that are not a good witness for Christ. And...I don't watch porn either Jeremy W. I can't say that I never have but I now have too much respect for my wife to be watching that stuff. Just my 2 pennies.

oh yeah...hello everyone :D

Wow. Started off my morning with a good laugh, now I’m pegged as a rapist and pedo. If you don’t like they stuff I watch, listen to, and play, don’t support it. Don’t try to control what I find entertaining.

Each time you push the envelope and desire that rush from being on the edge, you have to go a little farther to get that edge. Before you know it, you're over the cliff.

Once again, I know the difference between reality and TV, but it appears you do not. I enjoyed watching Halloween, but Halloween isn’t based on my life, hell it’s not based on anyones. How am *I* pushing the envelope when I have never done anything. It’s a movie. I never stabbed anyone so I guess going one step further would be to not kill anyone.

Go use that language in front of your company's CEO and you'll be out the door before you know it.

I have, many times, said those words in conversations with my plant manager, general manager and the owner of the company, and I still have a job. In fact the other person said it first in various conversations. Just last week after getting my opinion on something from the company GM he said ‘okay you can go now’. I got up and said ‘No Bill, you can go and get the F out of my building’ in a serious tone as I was pointing toward the door, then we laughed. We can joke around like that. And that’s the type of people I like to be around, where you can say anything.

I don't know any who have ever rented porn or stayed up at 1 to watch Skinamax. In fact, I had never heard of it until it was listed in this blog.

I work nights and typically clock out at 1:30 in the morning. My 1AM is your 5PM. That’s not a *normal* time to get out of work so I suppose you can make up a statistic on how people who work night shift are more likely to be *sinners* or whatever.

I'm just trying to show you why these things are not considered normal and why they're really unacceptable to most people.

Who the hell decides what’s normal and what’s not? Don’t tell me what’s normal and not acceptable. I’m a pretty arrogant SOB, but I’m not so arrogant that I actually care what other people think. I’m glad I don’t agree with anything you posted I find it comical and I’d be glad if you find me repulsive or whatever, because people should have different thoughts, it’s called being unique, screw being like everyone else. I’m sure you’ll psychoanalyze and do some spin doctoring on that statement and twist it around, but I really don’t care

I’m through with this crap, using words like ‘brainwashing’ and ‘corrupts the mind’ is just stupidness I have better things to do then waste my time when it comes to throwing nonsense like that out there. Geezes what is this the 1980s all over again.

Steve, first of all apologies. I am not pegging you nor intending you to peg you as a rapist or pedophile. I'm also used to get out of work at 1:30 a.m. so I understand what's on at that time of night. What I said was when people push the envelope in thoughts, words, and actions, they have to find a new edge. I knew guys who thought it was cool to do all sorts of things, drop the f bombs, be the real cool guy who would say anything to girls and treat them like meat. Years later, they're lonely and have very, very warped minds. You can't tell that it's the same person that I grew up with.
By the way, based on your picture and age, you probably don't remember the 1980s ...
