This should be interesting. They had to shut down TNT-HD or Uni-HD last year just to handle the games then, and now they're adding 1 more HD channel plus CBS is supposed to do at least 1 more HD game also. Wonder where the bandwidth will be coming from for this?

See post My Setup for configuration info.

Actually, CBS announced they will be doing up to six (yes 6) games per week in HD.

The impact: for example, in Week 1, ALL 16 games will be broadcast in HD.

It's going to be a very exciting NFL season, folks.

Don't think so since the D*'s hardware requirements for HD still says the old phase 3 Ku dish, not the Ka/Ku.

I bet they will change that once the new bird is in orbit. :)

They could even move some regular HD stations to the new sat for the sunday afternoon allowing old equip to get the sunday ticket.

Lets face it, there is more demand for sunday ticket than any other hd on sunday afternoon.

Certainly hope plenty of notice is given if/when Sunday ticket moves to the new satellites. Live in a multi-unit building now using the old dish and they've been slow to upgrade. That would be the tipping point for me keepin my mouth shut to this date.

So you think it's OK to shut down MPEG2 channels like HBO-HD, Showtime-HD, etc. which I've paid for so that the NFL-ST folks can see their HD games? There was enough outcry when they did TNT-HD last year IMO the bitching would be even louder. Doesn matter what they shut down, people will be upset if channels that they're paying for are turned off so D* can show the NFL-ST HD games.

See post My Setup for configuration info.

It also appears that the game mix will have a lot less wasted space so we may actually be able to tell what's going on in each game.

Game Mix in HD will be terrific!!

That's great news about the Red Zone channel, but I wonder why they can't do the shortcuts in HD?

I definitely think it's OK to shut down channels YOU watch in order to allow me to watch football games in HD. :)

Maybe they will move the current hd channels to mpg4 on d10 and use that bandwith for it. Never know with them.

Sorry - but I don't think the 8-Game-Mix will be in HD. They have announced the RedZone Channel will be in HD. But I have not seen or heard anything about the ST Mix Channels going to HD.

I sure hope I'm wrong!! So please correct me if you have some information about the Mix going HD.

I think Redzone in HD was a big step, I prefer that in HD before Gamemix, but I would like Gamemix in HD as well!!
