I am sure you probably investigated, but is there a way you can get the dish installed on the roof?

The big dish would really be ugly covering a window or taking up a lot of space on a balcony.

Maybe it could be installed on a pole somewhere.

Think it all through before you are stuck.

Yeah, I'm kind of stuck already in that its impossible for me to get cable tv or internet at my new place...

From looking at other people's places there are dishes installed on the corner of their railing on the balcony. Hopefully my install man can fit the HD dish on there and keep it mostly out of the way. The balcony isnt really usable, its only a 2x2 space that I cant even grill on. I guess its just for smokers.

Would you guys recommend I add the 8 buck a month plan for insurance? I'm living in a gated apartment complex in New Orleans if that makes any difference.

42" TV is huge, but it is going to look expensive if you do not have 100 HD channels from D* :)

I have a '46 inch TV and love my D* HD and DVR

DVR from D* has been darn near perfect for me.
