I just got another free HR20 but they sent a 100 instead of a 700.I already have a 700 and Dtv and installer say they are the same just different software.I disputed this but the person at retention said " in a nutshell" beggars cant be choosers. What IS the difference?

Thanks:mad:

The difference is simply they are made by different manufacturers. I believe the -700 is made by Pace, and the -100 is made by RCA/Thompson.

The -100 has a digital coaxial connection and a 2nd ethernet port that will probably never be used. The -700 has a internal RF antenna and the -100 is external. Other then that they are about the same units.

The cooling is also different. I don't have a 700, but reports generally are that the 100 runs cooler. If we start getting more CEs (we're on the second so far I believe), it is just as good if not slightly better, particularly if you want to use coaxial audio.

I think you've got a great situation - one of each means that you can stay on the cutting edge a lot more often!

I have both a 700 and 100. I like having them both. It's fun doing CE's on both model #'s.

I have a 700 and 100 also, and I've had problems with the 100, not the 700.

Or the accuracy, method or location of where they measure the temperature is different.
