this espn dropouts is pathetic, how long have they known about these dropouts, and still havent fixed it for 1 of the biggest races of the year, how is anyone suppose to watch this, I know there was a topic started about this, but this is pathetic, I have tried component with no luck. I would think it would be an espn thing, driving me nuts:nono2: :nono:

Try bypassing the BBC's or switching tuners.
To switch tuners go to another HD sat channel, then another, and then back to the race.

it has been going on for quite some time...there was a long thread about it. It's about a 1-second "blink" every so often. When I switched over to watch ESPN HD on Comcast for a day I didn't see it occur. People have reported the problem on several different DirecTV receivers so it doesn't appear to be limited to the HR-20.

Interesting.... I don't recall seeing it either. I'll keep it on the race for awhile and see if it happens here.

Seeing it here too. Also the PQ in general is crap compared to FOX. Colors are way off, picture is too dark. Not as bad as TNT but close.

Not a very good first impression here.

just did it again..

I just saw a black screen. The sound was continuous which makes it look like the ESPN control room not switching video fast enough [correctly].
No sound problem, no pixilation, just a black screen for a frame or two being sent.

I can't seem to locate the thread right now, but DirecTV has been having a problem with ESPN HD for weeks. It's a problem on DirecTV's end, it has nothing to do with any of your equipment, and it happens on every receiver.

Just another video drop from what looks to be on the ESPN side.

I am getting audio and video stutter, both my h20 and hr20, irritating. Will try the above suggestions, sorry for the rant, just a huge nascar fan, and this is a big race

Patience - remember, ESPN HD is currently compressed MPEG-2. Wait till it's in wonderful MPEG-4 OTA-like quality!

I thought that's what you were saying in your original post, but then all this talk about the 1 second blackouts seemed to overtake the thread.

I was seeing the black screens, but other than that it's been pretty good.
No pixelation or audio drops.

Try forcing the other tuner or removing the BBC's.
Those fixes worked for me until they replaced my Hr20.
