The only problem is that 40 of the channels will be sports channels for different parts of the country. So you still will only get about (30) thirty true HD channels.

The list includes 50 regional sports channels (including the handful on today).

With more to come in 2008.
LR: HR34-700, H24-200, Fios DVR, BD350 Blu Ray, Roku Netflix Player, Chromecast, Sony 65w850 TV
BR: HR21-200, Viso 32LX, DB350 Blu Ray
Dish: Slimline, SWM8
Other: genieGo

Depends on what you mean. I can get those 40 HD channels if I subscribe to the sports pack. And I will benefit from local replays of sports in HD, some news programs in HD, and over time, even more studios in HD. And all the while I will get much better quality and clarity for the SD content on those channels.

So for me... it is 70 channels. I can sit here and complain that he is counting HBO and Showtime which I don't subscribe to - but I don't/won't.

Look - 70-80-90-100 HD channels are HD channels. If he's counting channels you CAN'T receive or subscribe to you have a valid complaint. If he's counting channels you CHOSE to not subscribe to they are still channels.

Was i the only one that noticed this..

DirecTV will also be debuting its video on-demand offering, using a broadband and hard-drive connection, this fall, Carey pointed out.

I want my CE!!!

Yeah, its obvious that Direct has pushed VOD back because the last time this corporate mouthpiece spoke about VOD he said it would be out this summer and summer is over in 2 weeks essentially. I'd say we'd be lucky to see it by the end of the year at this rate.

Well, I would just like my SD locals, not to mention HD...But hey, the more HD channels, the merrier.

Actually Fall starts in 5 weeks. Summer flew by. Your VOD will come.
