NFL Sunday Ticket / SuperFan questions - latest deals?

Any advice on what current D* customers are getting in terms of promotions for signing up for Sunday Ticket? I understand the current price is $269, but even thought I'm already paying for HD, I'd need to spend another $99 for SuperFan to get the ST games in HD.

I spoke with "CSR du jour" yesterday and got the following answers:

1) I'd heard some folks were given the opportunity to get HD only, with no other SuperFan features. (My objective). She "checked with her supervisor" and said no one had ever heard of that...

2) She finally offered a six-month $10 off discount if I signed up for both. That takes me down to $300. Still more than I care to pay.

Other experiences? Should I just keep calling?

No experiences to report, but $300 is only $17.64 per week of NFL football. I'd take that. Unless your account history is long (7-8 years) and you have paid on time always.

Depending how long you have been with D* and what packages you have. You should be able to get it for free. I have been a member for over 10 years and subscribe to Premier, MLBEI, NBAPASS & NFLST and they gave me the "new" customer offer. NFLST, Superfan and Premier all for $70/month for four months!

I technically have been with DirecTV for a little over 2 years...I say technically because my past account was in my name while this account is in my wife's name (easier to start fresh than call the Mover's program when we switched.)

Anyway...I have always been able to get deals here and there, including the free HR20 last year around this time...and random service credits here and there.

Today I called and received the following...

$10 off a month for 12 months
Free HD ($9.99 off) for 12 months
Free HBO and Showtime for 6 months
Sunday Ticket for $269, split into 5 payments of $53.80.
$107.60 service credit to cover the cost of the first 2 months of Sunday Ticket
Free Superfan ($99)

So basically when it's all said and done, I will end up with Sunday Ticket, Superfan, HBO and Showtime (for 6 months) and I will spend roughly $90 less for the year than I was for my current package.

Also was offered a 2nd HR20 for free if I wanted it, but since I only have 1 HD TV, he just noted my account so I could call back for it at a later time...

I'm hoping that I will be able to get a service credit of some kind in a few months to offset the rest of the Sunday ticket and make this deal even better...

I'm a new guy - just seven months of paying my (modest) bill on time...

Do you have any special techniques you can share that have led you to this success? I'm always a) polite, B) friendly, c) call the CSR by their name, and d) thank them, even if they were of no use. But I had to work this rep for 15 minutes to get $60 off.

You should teach seminars...

I have been a subscriber for nearly 10 years.
I have never gotten any kind of incentives like this!

I just checked my bill online and it looks like this:

NFL SUNDAY TICKET Superfan - $33.00
Primary Leased Receiver - ($4.99)

Total bill this month: $146.77

I think I'll call and cancel my Sunday Ticket (Chiefs are going to be horrible this year anyway, why pay good money to watch that train wreck?)

Then, I'll sit by the phone and wait for them to call with a better offer.

I paid full price for both and was happy to do so. I guess I don't understand the mindset of always needing a deal. It's a product for sale. I'd think you'd spend far too much time on the phone with the CSR trying to get such deals. Just my 2 cents....

I was just very polite with him...Laughed a lot, used his name, explained that I was truly appreciative of anything he could do for me....etc...

We originally only had the discounts and HBO and Showtime...I then asked about the ticket...Told him it was too expensive for me, my wife would kill me, laughed, etc...and thats when he gave the Free superfan and $107 off...

I have Total Choice with 1 HD DVR, 1 D* DVR and 2 D* Tivos. No premium channels or packages...1 pay per view a month or so...Nothing special at all...Customer with this account since May 05.

This is what came up on my bill after he was done hooking me up..

well IMO the fact of the matter here is no one really wants Superfan for the features they want the HD, we shouldnt really have to pay for HD games when we have HD Access. HD Access unlocks the HD channels that correspond to your package, so why shouldnt it let you get the sports in HD $33 a month to watch football in HD is a heavy burden especially when you have the regular Sunday Ticket with a whole bunch of other high priced stuff tacted on. HD games should be included and those features that most people dont use (aside form the Red Zone Channel) should be the stuff people have to pay for. So bottom line here People pay for superfan, and have the HD access they expect HD for everything. Superfan is like paying for another premium that only gets you programming on certain days for certain games in HD. I think the least D* can do is offer a ST HD pack for those that just want the HD, have it maybe 5-10 dollars more that what NFLST is normally a month.

Yes you can, but if I remember correctly they charge you more than half the price, so it's not really a good deal.

I got the same offer - and had to accept too.

Well, my bill shows the $33 Superfan charge (3 payments) as well. When I called back on April 30, I was told it would be added free again this year. I don't get why some people are having to pay for it while others get it free. I really shouldn't have to threaten to cancel to get the same deal others are getting.

I've been a D* susbcriber since 2003 and NFLST since 2004. This year I was given Superfan for free simply because I inquired about any special deals for existing customers. I was told by the CSR that anyone who has had NFLST for at least 3 consecutive years with an account remaining in good standing can get Superfan for free. Of course they will not openly publicize this deal so you do have to inquire yourself. It's kind of messed up that you have to pull teeth sort of to get loyal customer perks, but hey I'll take saving $99 anytime :)

I'm definitely going to call in and ask. Since I signed up for DirecTV in 2003, I've always had the top programming package and the Sunday Ticket (this will be my 5th year of ST). I've had Superfan since they started offering it - got it for a special $50 price when I first subscribed to it and it was auto-renewed for free last year. I'm on the A-list and I use a CC autopay for my bill, which means it has never been paid late. I'm not sure what more I could do to qualify, but we'll see what they say.

i called to ask how come i was being charged the full 99 for superfan, the rep told me anyone who says they got a deal on it are lying unless they are a new subscriber . she said once you are on auto renewal a csr cant change pricing
