I just wish they had rolled them out for the 3 day weekend. I guess the good part is that the weather has been cooler and I will be able to get outside and do some stuff around the property and socialize more. You know things that new HD channels would nip in the bud.

Keithw, I saw your "weather has been cooler" and thought "he must be from Missouri". I'm with you this. It's still a lot hotter than where I'm from, so I can't wait until we have consistant 50s at night.

Here is the signal strength chart for the new satellite:

103º(b) Tuner 1 & Tuner 2
1-8	0	0	0	0	0	0	0	0
9-16	0	0	0	0	0	0	N/A	N/A
17-24	0	N/A	N/A	N/A	N/A	0	N/A	N/A
25-32	N/A	N/A	N/A	N/A	N/A	N/A	N/A	N/A
How many HD channels can be broadcast from each transponder?

Not sure as the math depends on information we don't have but since a broadcast channel is 5MHz usable and I think D10/D11 will use 36MHz usable transponders, 7 is just for starters. Also, given more efficient modulation and MPEG4 encoding, I can see up to 11 or 12 without too much bit starving.

Cheers,
Tom

No. And when you call the CSRs give you different dates. I have heard the 15th, October 1 and sometime in September.

No official date but DirecTV will be having a Post-Emmy party on the 16th promoting the launch of their new HD channel line-up. It's safe to say we will see an initial 20-40 new HD channels between Sept 4-16th... But nobody knows how soon. There will be an additional two more waves of HD rollout before the end of September.

It was mentioned they wouldn't roll them out before a weekend because they needed to be around to deal with problems. I wouldn't really think adding a couple of new channels would be that problematic.

I'm guessing all those channels in the 9000's are located there temporarily for testing. <...>Those are my guesses. They're only guesses. I could be wrong. ;)

As anyone who rush to conlude. ;)

Those pictures/letters/numbers are just info in EPG, only for test revceiver's memory allocation, routines.
No real signals/muxes - the sat D10 on a move to a position where they will do real tests.

I've retitled this thread, I keep thinking someone actually sees he new channels other than in the engineering mode guide. :)

Cheers,
Tom

I wouldn't really think adding a couple of new channels would be that problematic.

Normally it wouldn't be. But we're talking about adding a bunch of CONUS MPEG4 channels (never been done by DirecTV) to a brand new CONUS Ka satellite (never been done by DirecTV) on a frequency band that has gone unused up until now. This is very big stuff, not your typical new channel launch.
