I would really like to know if anyone who sent messages to A&E Networks or The History Channel (if they actually have a contact) have received replies about this issue. Unless I put the HR20 in 480p and use my TV's aspect control to zoom in, the picture is hopeless to watch...but then using that format defeats the whole idea of watching it in HD. Someone at History or A&E, please hear us and help us out!

You can find more info on the stretch-o-vision issue at http://www.digitalcaffeine.com/hd/ including who you can contact. That site also has a link to a petition to stop this practice. If you don't like stretch-o-vision please sign the petition. The more that sign, the more serious the broadcasters will take us.

I recorded the 2007 Modern Marvels show about distilling and the Hillbilly show yesterday. Both are in proper aspect and HD quality. Very nice!!!! So not everything is FUBAR.

That seems to be the SOP for the stretch-o-vision channels. If they're broadcasting a true HD show then it is in the proper aspect ratio. If not, then it's stretched.

This makes it a pain to watch any of their shows. Is it listed in HD? Yes, then the HD channel, no, then the SD channel. Is it really HD? No, then back to the SD channel. Try programming the HR20 to do that. :(

SciFi has it right. The HD channel broadcasts all shows in the proper aspect ratio. No stretching there. I can have only the HD channel in my favorites with out the clutter of both SD and HD channels.

What is wrong with the audio on History HD?
My receiver is showing Dolby PL II Cinema instead of Dolby Digital & man the quality is bad!
