So, all the videos I've seen so far are 4:3. Gnarls Barkely in 4:3. Now some chick on a stool in 4:3.

Wonder if any of the vids will be 16:9.

Oh yeah and I agree, HD not too friendly to the 40+ old artists.

Whoops! I spoke to soon! Pearl Jam's Life Wasted just came on in 16:9. Looks like it's up converted to HD. Pretty cool though.

Nice to see a channel dedicated to videos again instead of Real World Peoria Illinois or something.

Addendum: now, U2's Vertigo in 16:9. Style of vid doesn't really show off the HD, but the picture quality on other parts of the programming is gooooood looking.

The already brought it back. Bon Jovi did an Unplugged earlier this year. It's being shown later today.

I set up Bruce Springteen & Dixie Chicks Storytellers, which are older shows, but will hopefully look good.

Probably not. There were issues with MHD that caused a delay...it was supposed to be on yesterday.

Was anyone watching at the exact time they switched over?

Did they play 'Video Killed The Radio Star'?

That would have been cool.

nice.

Thanks. Will keep an eye out.

They were just in the Rockies. Beautiful in HD.

Looks like a very well done channel so far.

For years and years I've dreamed of a quality music channel in HD w/ DD -- now we have it!! :joy: :joy: :joy:

MHD commercials are worth watching just for the effects. Goo Goo Dolls coming on now. Never heard them before, but the sound quality is awesome. PQ is great. And the audio is so good that it lets my Lexicon really do it's thing. THIS is what I paid for!

I'm recording it; my wife is a huge fan. We saw them live last year, and they're really good. Finally another 24x7 HD channel! :)

Closed captioning confirmed--well timed--and on music! Impressive. :) And...Justin Timberlake is on my TV, moaning that he's bringing sexy back, so now I must burn the otherwise loyal TV. I'll go start the bonfire.

This would be the one they close-caption....

I'm anxious to get home and check it out.

So should we start taking bets on when the majority of MHD programming has nothing to do with music? ;)

I'll take that bet. The problem with most of the music stations is that they only have a limited selection for content (yes, a lot of music over the years, but 24x7 for YEARS is a lot to fill). With MHD, they have 3 genres to pull from.

And besides, we're going to keep them straight, aren't we?

Finally a new HD channel that I'll actually watch! Even the SD Goo Goo Dolls video on right now looks great.

I've already got the Dixie Chicks Storytellers and Reba/Kelly Crossroads set to record. And I see tomorrow they're airing the uncut version of Green Day's Storytellers. Can't wait for that.

Cool. I have been reading some threads in the others forums for the past hour or so and just stumbled on Tom's announcement and this link.

Just tuned in now and they were showing a video in SD
