What a concept - a music channel that plays MUSIC videos!

Hey, didn't MTV start out this way? And VH1? And MTV2? And CMT? Anyone starting a poll until the first episodes of "The Real World" start showing up?

The already brought it back. Bon Jovi did an Unplugged earlier this year. It's being shown later today.

I set up Bruce Springteen & Dixie Chicks Storytellers, which are older shows, but will hopefully look good.

I did not see the Dixie Chicks. However, I did catch Springsteen when they had this on preview and it was awesome! Lynyrd Skynyrd was also awesome!

Video killed the RADIO star. I remember - I saw the debut of MTV, then had to wait another year before my small time cable company decided they'd add it to their HUGE tier of 45 channels.

I get the channel not available message when trying to tune to 332. It doesn't show up on my channel lists. I have TC+ and get all the other new HD channels.

I went to the DTV web site and sent a reset--no effect

Edit: I did a menu reset on the HR20 and now get this channel.

We got it pretty early after release IIRC.

I always wanted one of those little stickers to put on your FM receiver to mark where to pickup the simulcast....those were the days...

Just saw the Lynyrd Skynyrd show at lunch, what spectacular video. I gotta say, though, when you are over 50, it is time to stop trying to look like a rebellious teen.

From what I've read the BS "performance" wont be on there.

PQ is sharp, however I see motion blocking during high movement scenes.

What a difference 25 years makes. When my cable company launched MTV, they simulcast the audio on FM so we could hear the music in stereo.

Wow. What a nice little surprise. I was flipping through my favorites just now and noticed MHD. Picture looks very nice. Sounds good too.

I agree with an earlier post, a music channel playing music videos. What a neat idea. Just stick with the videos please.

A big +1 I too would LOVE for that to happen. Otherwise, agree with the others PQ is beautiful I've already recorded Skynyrd and Fogarty. Made sure to take CMT, MTV and VH1 off my favorites. :D However I did keep VH1 Classics on favorites. Still need my middle of the night Metal Mania..:icon_hroc

FYI. Tomorrow at 2:30 VH1 Rock Honors from this year with Heart, OZZY!!! and ZZ Top.

That's the biggest probem with this new MHD network is that the good music and videos are on now, but because it is MTV, in a year's time there will be nothing on this channel, except programming like the Real World, MTV Cribs, etc. Its pathetic, but MTV started with video and look where it is now. So there is precedent to believe that it will happen again.

I would really love to see an MTV KickStart or Reboot HD channel show up which just started playing all of the old MTV footage from when the channel first aired until the very day that they stopped airing mostly music video. I'm not talking about the currently narrated reboot they did a year or so ago. I mean just start the actual footage from the channel in HD from the beginning until it stopped being a mostly music video content channel. Then when you get to the end of the music video era, you reboot it again and again. I'd like to see VH1 do the same thing.

That's a cool idea. I loved MTV through the early-mid 80's

The problem with that is that the old stuff is analog tape, and probably not that well preserved or archived over time. It would be a HUGE undertaking to remaster any of that in HD, and even if it was in excellent shape, that old tape didn't have the resolution or aspect ratio of HD material.

That said, I'd be happy if there was an SD music video channel like there used to be - if anyone watched MTV2 when it started, that's what its big selling point was. Let the teeny boppers/proto-reality TV junkies watch their Real World and crap on MTV, let MTV2 show an amazing mix of eclectic videos one after another all day long, 24 hours a day.
