Hey CNBC:

Not all of us have 50+" screens. The graphics do look amazing, but with 20/20 vision, I can't read anything from more than about 5 feet away on my 26" in the bedroom. Could we maybe go from 2pt font to 4?

Can't be everything to everyone, and that setup is pretty far to the edge of "HD." Much further than 5 feet and SD and HD must look pretty much the same.

So those of us with the larger size screens could have the larger size fonts. I don't think so. It looks great on my 60 inch screen as is.

I completely agree with all the postiive comments. I was an instant convert as soon as I turned to CNBC HD+. And as of yesterday, I was still just passing up CNBC in favor of one of the others.

The screen image is nice, but it really doesn't do justice. The large image is often being divided into multiple screen images if a conversation is taking place in differecnt location. It also is used to display Breaking News and other info. This is a really EXCELLENT use of the HD screen space.

I also agree that the top and bottom banners should be slightly larger (but not double!). They're are just inconsistent with the info at the right and force you to refocus to read the banners. Bump up one pt and they've got it. (I'm able to read them just fine, though, from 12 feet with a 50 inch screen.)

Cramer in HD -- Can't imagine...

That's not good for anyone, but a lot of Erin Burnett in HD wouldn't hurt...

What's their start up date

Next Monday is their start date, but don't look for it to be added to DirecTV until Wednesday (they usually don't add channels out of the Wednesday timeframe).

On my 47" Vizeo, seated on my sofa (where I normally sit to watch), it's completely readable. Looks great! :)

I see 3 reasons to like CNBC going HD:

1. Their financial news uses a lot of charts and all should be more readable in HD. I agree the top bottom ticker and stats are small, but they are readable on my 60 inch Sony from 10 feet away. However, since the ticker and stats are constantly changing it takes the eye a moment to find an item of interest. Making these moving stats slightly larger would make for quicker recognition of the one of interest and thus readability.

2. The main NBC Nightly News is now in HD and NBC is gradually increasing their news coverage originally done in HD. CNBC carries a lot of these same NBC news clips which I hope will be HD too. This should allow CNBC-HD to provide competition for CNN-HD and FOX-HD for daytime news. NBC has a good incentive to keep their CNBC-HD audience from switching news channels and providing non-financial headline news in HD is a way do it.

3. Next year the 2008 Bejing Olympic games will fill CNBC-HD with many of the individual events nights and weekends often live in the middle of the night and now in HD too. Often this CNBC coverage is more complete than the main NBC coverage which tends to be highly edited for just the highlights of American successes. The CNBC coverage allows those who want to see more complete individual event coverage to record it in HD .

I expect a transition and a lot of up-converted stuff to start with, but it should get better and better from here!:D

Don't be surprised if someone at CNN is drooling right now with the prospect of copying them for Headline News HD (although the thought of Robin Meade in HD isn't unpleasant)...
Wish list of channels for D*: C-Span 3; BBC World News; Sky News International; CBC Newsworld; France24; EuroNews; Eurosportnews; Setanta Sports News; ABC News 24 (Australia); Australia Network (soon to be ABC Asia Pacific); Al Jazeera English; Russia Today; NHK World; DW-TV -- Heck, how about an entire English-language international tier so I don't have to keep switching to my Roku?

I took a look this morning before I left for Work. Wow. I wonder why the Weather Channel didn't think about doing this format.

Always remember that you’re unique. Just like everyone else.

Is it just me or is the feed all garbled up? All the other HD channels (including the other new ones that launched today) are perfect. CNBC is my most watched channel and I've been waiting a long time for it to go HD, but now it's all glitchy and pixelated on my screen!

I hear that Fox Business Channel only has access to 30 million homes. If if doesn't start on Monday on DirecTV then they will lose over half that number. It will start on Monday October 15 on DirecTV.

Besides if they can start MHD on a Thurday, they can start FBC on a Monday.

The only reason MHD didn't launch on Wednesday was because of a technical problem.

I agree. Watching it about 8 feet away on 42" plasma, it looked a little too small.

I have a 32" LCD and the 2 crawls are very clear, yes they are smaller but quite readable from across the room. Instead of 3 quotes at the top you are getting 5 and the bottom one seems to me to be moving slower.

My 2 cents.
