No stretch-o-vision here.

In fact, the opposite.

They're showing Stir of Echoes right now, but they're taking the widescreen version and narrowing it down to 4:3 (pillarbox). Everyone is far too skinny.

Now I'm not so sure. Maybe I'm just nuts.

Also, they're listing Burn Notice as not in HD, which I can't believe given that it's in production right now. I'll record it and see.
room 1:
HR34-700 through Sony STR-DA5300ES amp to LG 55" LE8500 LCD flat panel via HDMI. Discrete OTA.

room 2:
On break. I thought I'd get something in time for baseball, but...

AU9 SWM dish. Channel Master 4228 for UHF + big yagi for VHF w/CM7777 combiner/amplifier.

Connected via wired GigE to Apple Time Capsule base station.

Nope. That's a 4:3 version shown as 4:3. Proper proportions. Either you're set for squeeze or you've been watching A&E too much and think everyone should be fat ;-)

Even though Law & Order got blasted in a couple earlier posts, I will say that I love SVU. I believe it's by far the best show in the franchise...but I'm still waiting on Law & Order: Paperwork Division:)

Last night they ran an older episode (pre Ice-T) and showed it in HD. I know this episode always ran in 4:3 prior to yesterday but was letterboxed on USA and in HD on USA HD. That's cool.

Is anyone else still getting a 771 - searching for signal error on USA HD?

That's what I was getting at about 6 AM PDT on Wednesday, however when I got home from work and tuned to the channel about 7 PM PDT I had it. But later that same evening it was gone again. I checked the signal strength on the sat and TPs 2, 4, and 6 were at 60, 60 and 68 respectively. Now they are down in the 50s.

What in the world is going on?

Chuck, Life, Journeyman, Bionic Woman all carrying the HD flag now for Saturday afternoon's showing.

Cool. We haven't really decided if we want to keep watching Life and Bionic Woman yet, but if we do we have 3-way conflicts for both of them. Could come in handy.

After spending some quality time this morning with a D* CSR is looks like I've got a bad splice from my last service call, when my LNB was replaced. So I've got another service call for Saturday. The good news is that it looks like the problem will be easy to fix (I hope!); the bad news is no L&O: CI in HD for me tonight. Cry for me Argentina!

Sometimes while I'm watching it goes to 771. I change the channel and go back then it's fine. Odd! I'm wondering if it might be a 100 thing as that's the only receiver I've tried watching on so far.
Who is this "Vod Kanockers" that you speak of?

USA = like watching NBC shows on your DVR.

Might as well call it NBC2.

I noticed that as well but I have been really looking forward to this channel for Monk episodes. Universal shows just the early seasons of Monk. I have avoided watching it on SD USA for the last few years. Now I will have lots of reruns to watch that I haven't seen yet!

Definitely 10/4... I checked. Right in the crowded Thursday 10pm timeslot. Come on, USA, throw us a bone here.

It airs again at midnight central time. Episode title is "Amends".

I'm having my first non-BTN, new HD channel experience tonight watching the new episode of CI on USAHD. Why the heck is that stupid logo so freaking far into my picture? Can't they move that thing into the corner where it belongs?

USAHD disappeared for a while this afternoon.

771 searching for signal...

As far as I could tell it was the only HD channel with this problem.

I didn't check the sd version before it came back.

anyone else??

Mike

Since it costs 2.4¢ to produce a penny, my 2¢ worth is really 4.8¢ worth.  That 4.8¢ is my own and not the 4.8¢ of DIRECTV, Dish, or anyone else for that matter.

Watched the "Greatest Fan" Monk episode last night. Quite a delight in HD. :D

I watched an episode of House on USA HD. I thought it looked terrible. Looked like it was zoomed in on. The tops of all of the heads were cut off.

Anyone else annoyed by shows on USA (and other NBC-Universal channels) with 2.0 audio only utilizing the Front Left and Front Right channels over a DD 5.1 audio stream rather than either switching to DD 2.0 for the broadcast (like Discovery HD) or creating a simulated 5.1 soundfield (like TNT-HD and HDNET)?
