I don't know USA and SciFi are starting to get about to get on my do not watch list. How the hell do you show a movie Sunday night in HD, and the following day the same exact movie in SD. HOW HOW HOW

They are still new at this, since these have only gone HD a few weeks ago. Heck, after many years we still have some of our local stations forgetting to switch to the HD network feed.

Does anyone know why Psych and 4400 are not shown in widescreen when they are available? This really annoys me as I like both of those shows and purposely didn't watch all the new episodes of Psych this past summer so I could see them in widescreen HD when USA HD started. I don't understand why they can show Monk in HD (which I like) but not Psych or 4400

National Treasure is on right now, and it appears to be in true HD. However, it is not in OAR. IMDB lists it as 2.35x1, so it had to be cropped to go full screen on a 16x9 display, correct? :(

Then again, I'm kind of new at the whole OAR thing, so if I'm off base someone feel free to correct me. :)

Unfortunately, most channels, including broadcast networks, pay channels, and PPV crop movies shot in 2:35:1 format to 16:9. UHD even does it some of the time. "1941" on UHD was cropped, but "Jaws" wasn't. When "1941" ran on HDNET Movies, it was OAR. Of course, "1941" was the theatrical cut, not the more popular director's cut when it aired on both networks.

You will see this alot - it has to do with the contracts the channel has with the program provider.

In most cases, the rights were purchased before launching an HD simulcast of the channel was even an idea. So, the channel does not have an HD copy of the film or program to broadcast. This is why quite a few movies on TNT and TBS are shown in Stretch-o-vision and USA in pillarbox. I prefer pillarbox to stretch-o-vision anyday. Pan and Scan combined with Stretch-o-vision is just unwatchable.

In some cases, the studio has sold both HD and SD rights for the same program or movie to different channels.

For example, HDNET has the HD broadcast rights to "Arrested Development" and "Star Trek: Enterprise."

SPIKE has the SD rights to "Arrested DEvelopment" and Sci-Fi has the SD rights for "Enterprise."

L&O CI, Psych, and Monk in HD - SWEET!!! :D

Oh yeah, the season just ended for two of them. :nono2:

So is "Psych" going to be in HD or not? I think it's the highest rated original "cable" series.

Both were great....and seeing original episodes in HD was the biggest bonus.
