Unstretched, just like all of the other Viacom channels. Not a surprise, but still nice to see.

Lots of programs are shown in letterbox on MTV. However, I wonder if those programs will be shown in widescreen...

Initially, those programs will probably be window boxed. However, I wouldn't be too surprised to see TRL in HD this afternoon. But I also wouldn't be too surprised if it wasn't HD.

all those shows that are letterboxed should be available 16:9 and if now they need to flip the switch and get things right...

I want "The Hills" in HD. Lauren, Audrina, Whitney and Hedi in HD would be a delight. :)

I was watching a preview for a new season on Cribs & they were big on how it'll be HD.

I'm probably a minority on here, but I'm glad to get MTV-HD, I'll take 4:3 content on a HD channel any day over SD.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

Being able to actually play back HD/16:9 material and simply upconverting your SD channel are two very different things. I suspect that MTV will start off with live content in HD first, and then move their recorded shows over to HD. This is, of course, assuming that they're not ready to do everything in HD today. It's certainly possible that they are ready, but I doubt it.

Now all they need is to bring back Beavis & Butthead. IMHO, the only thing on MTV worth a crap since they dropped Headbanger's Ball.

Yeah, MTV2 has HBB, but it ain't the same.

Just got home and TRL was SD, but looked really good regardless.

I zoomed the videos and they looked pretty outstanding for SD.
Much better than MTV-SD

Update: The Hills is playing in SD letterbox, too.
So this must be an upconvert network until I guess Cribs returns.

Like I said, look for TRL to be the first thing in HD. Live shows are the easiest to get up and running in HD.

The HD season of cribs is already passed and I caught an episode from that season this morning, with Floyd Mayweather, and it was not in HD, very disappointing.

Anyone else have a white vertical line going down the left side of the image on this channel?

Thanks,
