I have seen bits and pieces of D*'s October newsletter posted, but for those of you who don't know:

1. Free Choice Extra preview

October 5-7

2. Free Starz preview

October 11-14 (the newsletter says channels 520-533, so I don't know if it will include the new HD channels just added.)

3. NHL Center Ice preview

September 29-October 9

4. Free SF when you buy NFLST

October 1-27

Wow, another free Superfan promotion. I wonder if the package isn't doing as well as D* had hoped?

That's because Showtime stinks apparantly

:D

I have not heard of any discounts for Starz but you might be able to get a deal or free month if you ask nicely ;)

Free superfan?!?

Damn it, why cant I get it? I paid a grand for HD Tivo. I paid 399 for the HR 20. I even had to pay 99 bucks to have the 5lnb dish installed. I have had ST since year one. I pay ectra for HD content. Im on autopay and I have 5 freaking hearts. Why can everyone but me get a discount on anything?

I just want to see the Broncos in HD.

If they pull this crap next year, then Im not going to reup my ST and Ill go to my wifes restraunt and watch it there. 250 bucks will buy a lot of wings and beer.

Hey ntrprize:

I apologize in advance for giving advice if it is not wanted.

I was in almost the same situation as you. I called D*; explained my situation; asked for a refund for SF as I think it should be free, especially considering the money I spend with them each month.

The friendly CSR put me on hold for 30 seconds and told me she could not refund SF, BUT she would give me $10 credit off my bill for 12 months. Took less than 5 minutes of my time.

If I were you, I would call D*, explain exactly what you have put in your post (I'd leave off the Damn it part and BE POLITE! :) , and call the CSR by name during the conversation - makes the call more personal and can only work in your favor) and explain that for the money you spend you feel that SF hould be free and you would like them to consider giving you a refund or a monthly credit to offset the cost of SF. If you get nowhere with the CSR, politely ask to be transfered to retention or an NFL ticket specialist and plead your case there.

Please let me know how you make out - call right now :)

Just remember to be polite but firm :)

If I remember correctly the NHL Network was among those channels listed on several engineering HD test threads.

Comcast announced it will add the NHL Network on Oct. 1st and a Florida cable co goes live on Oct. 2nd.

Hopefully we will get it too before everyone begins play on next Wednesday.

Otherwise we can enjoy the free CI preview.....and wait.

For those of you who are upset about Sunday Ticket getting free Superfan now, please note, that 1/4 of the season will be completed before the offer, and it is still full-price for Sunday Ticket. It isn't that great a deal or anything to be upset about. If you wait until November or December, they will probably lower Sunday Ticket to 99 dollars. It doesn't mean that you got screwed for paying 250 dollars before the season started.

If you live in Massachusetts, don't you get all of the Pats games anyways?

By the way, there will only be a few more Pats games all season on Sunday Ticket.

Mon 10/1/2007 8:30 PM @ Bengals ESPN / No Sunday Ticket
Sun 10/7/2007 1:00 PM vs Browns Sunday Ticket
Sun 10/14/2007 4:15 PM @ Cowboys Probably the national game and won't be on Sunday Ticket
Sun 10/21/2007 1:00 PM @ Dolphins Sunday Ticket
Sun 10/28/2007 4:15 PM vs Redskins Sunday Ticket
Sun 11/4/2007 4:15 PM @ Colts Probably the national game and not on Sunday Ticket
Sun 11/11/2007 vs Bye
Sun 11/18/2007 1:00 PM @ Bills Sunday Ticket
Sun 11/25/2007 8:15 PM vs Eagles NBC / No Sunday Ticket
Mon 12/3/2007 8:30 PM @ Ravens ESPN / No Sunday Ticket
Sun 12/9/2007 1:00 PM vs Steelers Sunday Ticket
Sun 12/16/2007 1:00 PM vs Jets Sunday Ticket
Sun 12/23/2007 1:00 PM vs Dolphins Sunday Ticket
Sat 12/29/2007 8:15 PM @ Giants NFL Network/ No Sunday Ticket

I think you can reasonably expect 6 more Pats games on Sunday ticket this year. And that is assuming you don't live in the Patriots market. If you are in their market, you wont get any games on Sunday Ticket.

Yes all Pats. Only going to add the Sunday Ticket cause only paying 1/3 myself; going in with my son and one of his buds. On Sunday's my living room is taken over by usually at least 8 young wild football fans who are fantasy pool maddogs. Actually it's more for them than me.

edit: Maybe I should charge them each a couple $$$'s for their seat and provide my beer to cover my cost. LOL.

I thought Sunday Ticket was for people who eat, drink, sleep football..? like my dad?

I ONLY watch the Eagles play.. but don't want to miss a game. I live in Memphis though so if I didn't get Sunday Ticket I'd never see them (unless I went to a bar)... now if I were a Pats fan in Memphis I wouldn't have it at all. I'd watch most of the games on national TV or on Sunday/Monday night... and go to the bar a few times a year when it wasn't. But that's only cause its the Pats. In a few years when they aren't awesome anymore the Pats fans will have to do the same thing. :)

BTW I think it sucks that they charge extra for HD Sunday Ticket. I think when HD was brand new it was justified... but having basically EVERYTHING DTV offers in HD now (soon) I think they're gonna look pretty silly charging extra for HD on one of their packages. Just make them ALL HD and jack the price up 10 bucks a year... they'd make more money than they do now SELLING SuperFan...

Philly I'm with you 100%; well maybe 98% due to your "In a few years....." sentence. Add a few more $$ if you have to for HD and drop having to add something to an existing add on.

The sad thing is, when HD WAS new, they didn't charge extra. They created the Superfan later. They did offer Superfan for free back in April, but after that, you had to get lucky with a CSR to get it free.
