Why is game on Fox 2 in HD from fsn detroit but not HD on FSN Detroit? Is this a sign of things to come this year Directv screwing with our HD broadcasts on FSN? Why does this happen??????!!!!!!!! It's so frustrating! is it really that hard for D* to broadcast a RSN hd game?!

Did Directv switch the HD feed of FSN Detroit to some other feed of FSN Detroit? No, it's not Directv's fault. Have a nice day talking to FSN Detroit.

They're going to work on it from their end. The lady told me that of the sixty local folks working there (in Southfield) only four are back at the office. Everyone else is there at the ballpark. She said she was going to make a few calls to the engineers and those that can possibly call DIRECTV but I'm not sure if anything could be worked in time.

FSN Detroit's local number is xxx-xxx-xxxx if anyone else wants to call and not complain, but let them know you were expecting it in HD on DIRECTV.

The lady was very responsive, so don't give her the business..... :)

My response was because you are already starting to bark up the wrong tree blaiming Directv for 'screwing up' FSN Detroit Tiger's baseball. This is an issue with FSN themself. Directv is not 'screwing up' anything, they are passing the screw up their are receiving.

Enjoy the SD game thanks to FSN Detroit.

I don't know who's fault it is but FSN D and Fox 2 Detroit are both doing the game today. The Fox 2 broadcast is in HD but not FSN. It could be anyone's fault.

This is all an assumption, but it does make sense in my head...

I think one of the main issues is that FSN Detroit is not a full time 24x7 HD channel, but D* has given them that kind of slot. That being said, when no HD is being broadcast, FSN Detroit HD is just a simulcast for FSN Detroit at full SD bitrate.

Cable ops that grant FSN HD a full time slot are always locked on to the FSN Detroit HD feed and always show what is streaming in HD, even if there is no guide data (this happened a few times last year with college games and tigers games).

D* has to watch the FSN HD feed and "flip a switch" for FSN Detroit HD to get the SD feed off and HD on.

If anybody can confirm or deny this let me know...

Nope. 636 is set up for 24x7 HD. Not everything that FSN broadcasts is in HD (hence the pillar boxes at times). FSN had to flip the switch on this one. I talked directly to the production folks at FSN and they confirmed it.
