I don't appreciate your sarcastic response. there is no need for it.

My response was because you are already starting to bark up the wrong tree blaiming Directv for 'screwing up' FSN Detroit Tiger's baseball. This is an issue with FSN themself. Directv is not 'screwing up' anything, they are passing the screw up their are receiving.

Enjoy the SD game thanks to FSN Detroit.

I don't know who's fault it is but FSN D and Fox 2 Detroit are both doing the game today. The Fox 2 broadcast is in HD but not FSN. It could be anyone's fault.

This is all an assumption, but it does make sense in my head...

I think one of the main issues is that FSN Detroit is not a full time 24x7 HD channel, but D* has given them that kind of slot. That being said, when no HD is being broadcast, FSN Detroit HD is just a simulcast for FSN Detroit at full SD bitrate.

Cable ops that grant FSN HD a full time slot are always locked on to the FSN Detroit HD feed and always show what is streaming in HD, even if there is no guide data (this happened a few times last year with college games and tigers games).

D* has to watch the FSN HD feed and "flip a switch" for FSN Detroit HD to get the SD feed off and HD on.

If anybody can confirm or deny this let me know...

Nope. 636 is set up for 24x7 HD. Not everything that FSN broadcasts is in HD (hence the pillar boxes at times). FSN had to flip the switch on this one. I talked directly to the production folks at FSN and they confirmed it.

So no FSN HD providers were getting the HD feed?

Comcast, Charter, ATT, E*, D*?

Damn, thats a pretty big F-up

That I don't know. I could call my brother in SE Michigan (Comcast) to see if he had it in HD (although he's not as savvy as us because he thinks anything attached to a HDTV is HD ;)).

Edit: Just talked to him, his DVR could only go back 30 minutes. I saw the switch flip about 12:35 local. He has no idea.

FSN Detroit just didn't "flip the switch" to HD. They did the same thing on the Red Wings game yesterday. It wasn't in HD until just before Gordie's ceremony and could see it "switch" to HD. A week ago the same thing happened although it didn't switch to HD until halfway thru the first period.

DirecTV just passes on the signal they get. They can't help that FSN Detroit is asleep at the wheel.

Luckily for us, the few that called FSN Detroit directly (no pun intended) woke them up and all is good.

Wife just brought home some Little Caesars, I have a Vernors, the Tigers are in HD and all is good in Dallas!

Stuck at the office, DVR is running at home, coffee is cold, had left overs for lunch...

However my Sister and Dad are at the game, 3rd baseline, end of the infield, 11 rows up

I worked from home for the first two days of the NCAA tourney and had a major data share move over the weekend, needed to be here to clean up the administrative issues with access rights on the new SAN.

Sucks, but gotta work to pay for D* :)

The HDDVR works great and i'm watching the gamecast on mlb.com (was on espn, but that hung in the 5th and is still stuck there)

Nope, infrastructure specialist, but i have to interact with the storage guys for our migration to a COE project.

I get all the "they broke it calls and emails" and have to turn moron speak into actual data that makes sense to fix stuff

Glad to see the tie and to add to my nerdy-ness, i just logged onto DirecTV.com and added Tigers Live Postgame to record in case of extra innings

Can't be that difficult since FSN KC got the HD signal alright.
