As long as it's a swm lnb it shouldn't matter.
Do you have the cable from the dish connected to the correct port on the back of the HR24? It should be the one marked swm.
Do you have a swm type lnb and a power inserter connected in line with the HR24? If so the swm lnb should be automatically detected.
You don't need a separate power inserter. The only advantage I can see to having one is if the one in the HR54 fails. I've never heard of that...
