The VIP series receivers are quite old - i imagine parts for refurbishment are hard to find.

Hyphen - Concur with harsh on the above. If you have other working locations, test by moving the in-question Wally to a working location. While your at it, move a known working receiver to where the Wally was - test both things in 1 fell swoop.

It's probably not your Wally - if you installed your cabling, start checking it, or let Dish send the Tech so he can check your installation out. Even if it is your Wally, at least the tech should have one in their truck for replacement. Start with the HDMI cable, then move onto the coax. Given...

Guitar - you're YOUNG if that's all you think it is. I've been doing IT for 30 years, when just about ALL consumer internet was over dialup, using MY definition of MODEM. I'm not confused at all about what a MODEM is, but it appears you ARE.

So many people misuse the term "modem". What is in your Hopper is a "modem" - strictly speaking, a modem (modulator / demodulator) is a device to convert digital data into an analog phone signal and vice versa. The device that the cable company provides (sometimes consumers can buy their own - I...

It would be useful to know what kind of phone service you have - POTS, VoIP, over cable provider etc. Your vender name would also be useful. Then again, it could be a Hopper problem.

Better answer for #5 concerning MOCA - The Hopper receivers use MOCA to communicate over coax all on their own.

#2 - yes you can. #3 - Probably NOT music channels (Sirius, the Dish Music channels), but otherwise probably. #4 - No #5 - Any model Joey should work, (get at least Joey3's and 4's) except Super Joeys (I've heard this last, can't say for sure). IF you have ethernet to the Hopper3 and to...

Yes - for a Wally (at least) - a Dish500 with the DPP LNB should work fine for 110 / 119. For the Hoppers, you should use the newer 1000.2 WA or Eastern Arc (depending where you're looking). The 3 slot LNBs should work for both Arcs, but I would do the Check Switch (Dish) so it knows it only...

I'm pretty happy with my Samsung 43 inch SmartTV. There are things that an Amazon FireTV does better, but there are also things the TV does that FireTV doesn't do as well.

Ok - so if you're seeing the receiver reboot - get an UPS from an office supply store to plug the Hopper into, to protect it from the blips of electric power. Blips from losing signal are more likely weather or tree related. Can't do anything about the weather, but tree branches can be trimmed.

Checking your cabling is the first thing to check, but as a side test you could try connecting the Joey3 via ethernet (assuming your Hopper3 is also on ethernet). You might also see about moving the "bad" Joey3 with another one to see if the problem follows the Joey3 or stays at the location. Be...

Or - the other option is to find , download and install the EXTFS driver.
  14. General DISH™ Discussion
If you don't want a Joey at each TV - keep in mind that (so far) all Joeys and Hoppers do have composite A/V jacks outputs that you could connect to analog modulators (and then to NTSC tuners on the TVs) . HOWEVER - I don't believe you can be using both HDMI and these analog outputs on the same...

Well - that won't work on all LNB's. Mine for example. What I did do was a check switch after all traffic ceased on 129.

You're going to have to go into the settings and change the diamond and double diamond keys.

Most /all of any SD duplicates have been dropped as Dish put all Western Arc on just 110 and 119. Quite possibly some lesser viewed channels (like the Dish interactive weather) have been dropped as well.

You made the decision that is right for you. Good luck going forward.

That's strange - I've seen it on my Hopper w/Sling and every receiver I've ever had ( and that's quite a list....) .
