  1. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Took some work, but I finally connected with the right person. Got the 44, sent back the 34, got some free programming.

I hear you, except we both know that the 44 is an upgrade, no matter what they say. The mere fact that they are so protective of the model, gifting it only to new customers, tells me they know it is better than the 34. While the CSR did not promise me a 44, I did state firmly that I no longer...

My hope is that you actually get an HR44. My replacement for a dying 34 was another, reconditioned 34. 15+ years with DTV. Starting to lose faith.

My thanks to all who replied. I have never had this much of a problem with DTV CSRs or with Retention. They are supposed to "call back" with a decision, but they don't say when. Tomorrow is 48 hours, which seems sufficient to me. Andrew Jackson and I will ask for a truck roll. Or maybe I...

Recently it has been running even slower than usual. And for three nights in a row, I got error messages that I knew were wrong, blinking in and out. Then, during a reboot attempt, I somehow got to a screen that said my receiver was running outside the temperature norms (64 C) and that it would...

Here's what works for me: I bought an RGB to HDMI converter from Monoprice. 30 bucks or so. Once you plug the component video cables into the little black box, you can then attach a coaxial digital audio input from your DVR output. Works even with a Y cable. Then run the HDMI cable to your...

This is exactly what happened to me yesterday. Only hope, unless you want to install your own new hard drive, is to activate your protection plan. My new unit will be here Friday. No new commitment.

Thanks -- I ran the system test sand discovered an "internal storage" error. Called DTV. They suggested I do an RBR, which picked up 16 disc errors. The reboot corrected 15. Second system test showed same error. Did second RBR and system test. No change. DTV is sending me a new box under my...

I have three dvrs on my whole home system. One of them, an HR23-700 has developed a persistent, but intermittent, stutter that makes it unwatchable. Any ideas on a quick fix? If not, how to I handle a request for protection plan replacement with a problem that comes and goes?

More than 12 years ago, DMX was available on my BUD, played through a small receiver that hooked to my AVR. Cost was $10-$15 a month. The SQ was full range, and sounded great. Everything since then has not been so good, and I miss it.

    You scored, brother!

As far as recording requirements go, I have no complaints about the HR34.

So, what happens if I turn the supported MRV off, now that I have a full setup installed? Can they shut it off from on high? Just curious.

This has happened before, last year, with the 5.1 channels rerouted and some not on at all on AMC

I am sorry to hear that, but thanks for the info. For several years, I have been using an external IR receiver/distribution device that connects to the sensor locations on the fronts of my components. This scheme has worked great for all units, including my DTV receivers, inside a closed...

Two months after my install, my Harmony One, which worked great with my HR21Pro, is not properly controlling my HR34, located in the exact same spot in my cabinet. The unit is the only thing in my system that has changed. Used to be flawless, now it is frustratingly hit and miss -- mostly miss...

Or VistaVision? There were several trade names for it, but it came down to widescreen.

I am saying I jumped the gun. Saw it on a small screen and wanted it to be so. My mistake. Post removed.
