I've run TVersity and Squeezebox server on the same machine with no problems. (I don't use either one any longer.)

Window Media Classic. Easy on resources, plays a lot of stuff. http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/

Count me among those anxious for webOS 2.0 and the new Pre. I already overclock my Pre but the new hardware will be welcome.
  4. Tech Talk - Gadgets, Gizmos and Technology
I've been trying out Ubuntu for a few months and I like it as an OS for my netbook. (I still have XP available as a dual-boot, just in case I need it.) I updated to 10.10 yesterday and I like the new look and functionality, mainly because of how it works with a netbook. If I could connect to my...

    I use www.techbargains.com and and http://www.edealinfo.com/deals/tech.php primarily.

That's a finalist for post of the year. :D But don't give the DOT any ideas!!! They'll spend billions for such a study!

Currently, webOS is at 1.4.1.1 (in the US) and webOS 2.0 is reportedly coming late in 2010. It appears that pretty significant changes are on the way. I've also been to the point where I wondered if webOS would survive and started looking at other phones, but HP has given me hope that it will...

My personal (unprofessional) opinion is that HP will continue to run with webOS (the OS in the Palm-branded devices) and help it reach it's potential. We've seen hints that they're going to utilize the OS in different types of devices, including tablets. I'm not knocking you for looking...

I thought that the iPhone4 looks a lot like the Vizeo.
  11. Tech Talk - Gadgets, Gizmos and Technology
I was at the in-laws last week and noticed that the Vizeo TV in their kitchen looked familiar. I don't know the model number but I do know it's over a year old because they had it last July.

While I don't own an iPhone I found this interesting. I thought the problem was AT&T's coverage area. :D I'm just curious how such an error could remain undiscovered for years.

Are there increased risks of failure for these larger drive sizes? Right now, my ideal would be for 2TB drives to drop to around $50 rather than have an expensive 3TB.

I didn't see the need of an alarm company either until my house was robbed. Although they didn't take much (because I didn't have much to take back then) it was still an eye-opening experience. They even took the orange juice out of my fridge, drank it, and left the carton in the middle of the...

Does ADT charge more to monitor a DSL or "cell phone" system? My current alarm company charges a LOT for the parts plus something like 20% more per month to monitor the different setup.

People will most definitely buy something that has no purpose. I give you the Pet Rock. I agree that it's a cool looking device, though. You know, I wonder how many Pet Rocks would have been sold if they had a Apple logo on them? :)

I've begun the process of storing our DVDs, CDs, and Blu-ray discs digitally. DVDs and Blu-rays are almost all done but I've hardly made a dent in the CDs. I set up a PC as a media server which streams movies to a couple of Popcorn Hour units. After living with that setup for a couple of years...

One of our HR21s had been doing the same thing for about a week. Last night, it finally died...wouldn't boot up. The initial blue-screen message mentioned a bad drive as a possibility. Free replacement on the way. My old HR20 (which I really like) has turned itself on a few times lately. I...

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I use an access point to connect one of my receivers to the network. I see no reason for the switch to cause any problems.
  20. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
OK...another thing about the receiver that's freezing up: with the power "off," the front panel lights up. The REC indicator is a solid red, the 1080i light is on, and the circular light in the front are flashing, but only at the 2, 6, and 10 o'clock positions. This lasts for 5-10 seconds and...
