  1. DISH™ High Definition Discussion
I think there are alot of us that can say I told you that 3D would fail. The majority of the buying public will not spend extra $$$ or wear those silly glasses to watch TV.A good HD picture is really all most of the general public wants myself included.

The needed HD to the tvs is the issue. That requires either HDMI or a reciever at the tv. If you only needed HD to say 2 TVs then 2 722s would fit the bill. Are all the tvs bigger than 32in? HD may look alittle better on the 26in and smaller but is it worth the cost? Modulated TV2 output from...

Now for us non sports people. Is this new channel going to cost us as much to not watch as ESPN? Adding a channel to the lineup that would cost me more and not watch it would not be good or "fair" to the non sports people.

You could use the old 510 to align then install the hopper if you cant break through the annoying setup software on the hopper.

Good post. I agree with the OP.Only thing I can add is lack of personal responsibility is the root of most problems from your cable bill the the United States budget.Image a world where every able bodied person took responsibility for their on life and actions and didnt blame anyone for your...

Television shows are edited for content  Someone is hired to make the content worth watching  Please tell me its not true. The next thing you will tell me is that everything on the internet is not true :nono2:

There is a torque specification for tightening the connectors. There even is a tiny torque wrench you can use. Ill probably get flamed for even suggesting but I always tighten with a wrench. Its a delicate touch. There is a fine line between tight enough and breaking something so you have to be...

A 211k is allowed on a hopper joey account.Intermittent use of the 211 is also permitted. Now the question is whether Dish considers tailgating and use in an RV different from your vacation home. Its still intermittent use IMHO. I would not suggest it if I thought it violated your terms of use...

If it were me I would get a 211k reciever as your "Tailgater". You could either buy the tailgater dish or just install a different dish at the 2nd location. Then you wouldnt have to bother with unhooking recievers. You might have to shell out a few $$$ but the convenience IMHO would be worth it

Pixelation during fast motion? Sounds like a cheap tv to me that cant keep up.Don't compare shows on the networks especially during the day.A lot of those show are still in SD even if you are on a HD channel.Just because it says HD in the corner doesn't mean the show is HD.SD on some LCD sets...

1080P is possible but only pay per view $$$$$. I dont think anyone is broadcasting 1080p. The 1080p hype drives me crazy since all normal broadcasts dont get any higher than 1080i. Pay more for something that you will not used unless you watch a lot of bluerays.

The worst dish installs I have seen have been done by roofers. The mast is likley not going to be plumb. the roofer is going "to use the same holes" and its not going to be right. Have the roofer remove the dish then have someone that knows how to install a dish correctly do it. Never use the...

you need a 211k reciever and a tailgater dish.It doesn't matter if you have a hopper joey setup. They let you have a 211k now for RV use. If you drive more than a 100miles or so you might loose your locals in the spot beam. Contact DIRT member on this site they will help you out with the equipment.

Great to hear it got grounded. While there will always be the ground not to ground argument its still the code that dish requires to meet the electrical code. You cannot simply drive a rod in the ground and call it good. If you drive a rod in it still needs to be connected to the main electrical...

Im sure most people are concerned about the $$$$ it takes to run one of these things. My 722k is really outrageous. As far as electricity generation give me a clean coal plant any day and its not hurting the planet. That is another topic and should not be discussed in this thread.
  18. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
It always amazes me how people will try so hard to do something the wrong way. Then complain how it dosent work. IMHO put in the correct pole cemented in then remove the wrong pole.

Finger tight is not tight enough. The connectors will loosen over time.A gentle touch with a small 7/16 wrench is all you need. When I say gentle I mean GENTLE.I guess alot of people might not know what that is and twist till it breaks. Just an ever so slight bump is all you need. 20yrs and I...

Make sure all the cable connectors are all good compression connectors. Connections not just finger tight us a wrench and snug them. Its being discovered that even a slightly loose connection will cause issues.
