Many thanks for the heads up. I live 90 miles out of Tucson but also have the locals in HD.:)

 Dish has even longer if the add does not specify what year the word "end" applies to. Perhaps, by the end of 2020?

Don't think we should hold our breaths. What reps say does not always materialize. When I was deciding between Cox cable and Dish, Cox rep told me that Cox would very soon add HD. That was in 2005 and my town still has no Cox HD!

I did what I should have done in the first place and call technical support. A tech arranged for me to get the one cent deal. The lesson, never believe what consumer reps say as they always seem less well informed than techs.:)

I have HBO and Showtime. Dish told me today I could not add Cinemax for 1 penny unless I dropped both Showtime and HBO. CR guy said Cinemax offer only valid if one has no premium channels.:nono2:

Thanks for the link, but it does not mention Tucson.

Are these all in HD? I live in 90 miles from Tucson in a small town and can't get Tucson stations over air. Dish only offers them in SD and apparently has no intention of ever making Tucson availble in HD. Local cable does not offer HD either or I probably would have left Dish because it is...

I have gotten India when calling tech support several times. It then is difficult to get the India people to send me back to someone in the U.S. who I can understand.:)

If a network tried to do this, the many local stations that carry its network programs would rebel. :nono2: :nono: The local stations depend on ad dollars for their revenue. A nework that created a national HD channel would be competing with its own network affiliates. :)

My 750 gig Seagate Freeagent Pro came with a single large NTFS partitiion and some utilities in directories. WD drives have come with the old FAT32 and a single partition with some utilities in a directory.

Format is clearly not windows. After a 750 gig Seagate FreeAgent Pro had problems with 622, moved it to computer for backups there. Windows reported 3 non-windows partitions, 1gig, ca 500 gigs, and197.6 gigs. About 700 gigs of the drive were reported by 633 as available for program...

    1) Seagate 7500GB FreeAgent Pro 2) New 3) Never used for anything except the 622 4) Intermittent error 855 when I moved programs onto it. Managed to get about 50 gigs on it. Then error 855 occurred every time I tried to move programs onto Seagate despite 622 saying Seagate had more than 600...

It would be great to be able to sort the programs on the USB drive the same way one can on the 622.

I bought a Seagate Free Agent 750 gig drive and have problems. I called Dish early yesterday and had unit activated. After I transferred about 50 gigs of programs to it (in several separate transfers), I could not transfer any more. Before I try each additional transfer the dish 622 reports...

The 3 problem WD drives that I mentioned above all had buttons that would not press in properly to turn drive on and off. All 3 if you pressed the button in the center, it would not move slightly in to turn drive on or off. Pressing button near edge would result in other edge sticking outward...

Successful activation early in day. But have since had periods today when USB drive could not be accessed. Sometimes trying to manage hard drive resulted in message saying I needed to have my receiver activated and gave me same number I called much earlier in day to have unit activated...

Seagate has a 5 year warranty while Western Digital has only 1 year. I bought a western D, the on/off button was defective. Return to Best Buy, tried out replacement in store, it was also defective. Service manager tested a third western digital, same fault with on/off button. Upgraded to a...

It might even depend on how they have you classified in their computers. I subscribe to all the US channels SD and HD. I had one 622 and wanted to replace an 811 with a second 622. For months I heard that I was not elegible for more than one upgrade a year. So I waited until more than a year had...

Hi, please let me know if I understand the following correctly. Might the reason Dish does not have HD locals in most places be that satellite is inherently less able to offer such than cable. For example, I live in a small town about 100 miles from Tucson. Cable company in Tucson offers HD...

Yes it is complicated. Here is the entire story. I do have a 622. But when I first signed up with Dish last year I took advantage of an offer that promised me 3 HighDef outlets. I currently have the 622 in the great room and the 811 in the kitchen. My understanding when I signed up was that I...
