    i'm pretty sure it's SD+pillar box+active content.

It's easy to recreate. During an SD game, use the format that doesn't stretch or zoom... I forget the lingo. The one with the sidebars. When interactive comes on, zap. You can use previous channel, but you won't get the info bar. Also, you can actually change channels by carefully using...

I had an issue. I narrowed it down to a very recreatable scenario. Turn on a SD game (cuz my dolphins suck). If the format is (forgot the name) with the side bars, when the active stuff comes up, the receiver is now fubar. It never shows the active content. I can never see a channel info...

I had issues and it was easy to recreate. I had Raiders@Dolphins recording. I switched over to Baltimore game and the video was fine, but the unit would not respond to the remote. I did a RBR. Stopped the recording. Deleted the old recording. Started recording again. Flipped to Baltimore...

I would want 2 HR20s with a video processor for PIP and split screen.

While I'm sympathetic with you, I'm more hardline than brucegrr. Contracts are contracts. Each party has a responsibility. If you have a contract for a couple of years, generally you are paying less up front fees. So, you got a deal on the front end in exchange for a long term committment...

admin should do a reverse dns on his IP and see if he works for any of D*s competition.

We have hd in our bedroom and in our great room. I have to say the HR20 does a pretty good job upconverting some shows. Family Guy on toon network looks great compared to a normal tv/tuner. That is part of this battle. I'm at odds with my wife constantly because she sets up recordings on the...

The lesson for the day is to keep your mouth shut and don't post pictures.

    Key Information: 1) hr20-700 19e 2) 498 Y 3) 480 Y 4) 481 Y 5) 9300 N 6) 9301 Y This is only my newest box (1 week old). The other two hr20 units bought in during the rollout (last september) are all Y.

I have a feeling some of this is tongue in cheek. I will agree that there are some people that test little to nothing. There are also people who rely on generated white/black box test cases or only code well enough to get past QA's view of the world. However, in many cases you simply cannot...

    1) How many scheduled rollouts have they missed? Why is anyone surprised? I had to wait for my hr10, my r15, for my hr20, and now for some extra programming. big deal. 2) believe it or not technology jobs are hard. whether it is programming accounting systems, reservations systems, DVRs...

Saturday I called to activate another HR20 and deactivate my HR10. In the midst I said that I thought there was some kind of offer to switchout the HR10. (note I didn't really care, but I was testing the waters.) The response: "You shouldn't believe anything you here from your friends or from...

I don't know when it started because I use HR20s mostly now. But, my R15 that I still use is painfully slow when I hit the List button. I would say it started at least 2 months ago. This release is a little better. It is also better if I delete some shows from the list, but I only have Dora...

This may not be your issue, but I have my HR20 set as the A/V remote. When I want to force a download, I have to switch the remote to the default (slide all the way to the left). I suspect I'm in the minority, but my R15 came first, so it gets top billing for now. just a quick tip for those...

The rep was wrong. You can record a PPV stream without purchasing it, then buy it later and it is intact. The behaviour they describe is what my UTV would do, and perhaps the DTivos.

I use a component video balun (component->cat5) for one of my setups. It also can carry digital coax, but I have no reason to feed my television with audio. The baluns are great. My entertainment components are at least 75' of wire away from the the HD plasma. The video quality is the same...

I think there are two problems with this scenario: 1 - I bet D* has test cases that they are running and must pass, and they are probably more detailed than we will create. 2 - Most of the bugs that people encounter are not reproducible with a step by step process. The ones that are get fixed...

From what I read the Apple AAC uses some custom DRM routines. I haven't read the AAC spec, so I assumed it was a way to package DRM'ed content, but that you specified the DRM format and key info in the packaging. If so, it is an Apple format as in WMP would never be able to decode it.
