Well, I now have a new tv... 74.5" Samsung Q80R, 4k hdr. It's not showing the aliasing but in some of the areas that I was typically seeing the aliasing still don't look quite right - they look overly smooth and lacking detail, sort of like up-scaled SD content but just in the areas with fine...

Wouldn't than affect all video? I'm still getting a great picture from other sources.

Mine is older than that - I'm too lazy to dig out the paperwork but it's at least 15 years old. Had one of the 2nd generation Mitsubishi 65" hd-ready sets before then; it was in two pieces and was huge.

Thin screens killed residential DLP not enough folks thought the extra depth was worth the better picture and dealing with the bulbs. I think Mitsubishi hung on a bit longer than Sony did with their LCD projectors. Last time I checked, they were still making some DLP projectors for theaters...

No, it was one piece. I have the 65" - I think the bigger ones and earlier generations may have had separate cabinets and screens.

It's the only tv I have. Might take it over to my sister's this weekend and try watching a recording on her Aquos. I've debated getting new tv but the picture rivals everything I've seen; I don't have the bandwidth for 4k. The only possible with it (other than this aliasing stuff) is that it...

It's a touch taller than modern flat screens, and the same width, but a lot thicker.

If it was a scaling issue, I would expect it to be full screen, but this only affects areas with a little color gradient like the pavement in the example I provided - it's bad on people's foreheads too. I also changed the resolution setting on the hr44 (selecting one resolution at a time) and...

Yes, he's pretty old but still had a great picture (except when watching directv...) - just never to put in a new lamp every 6 to 12 months.

For the last month or so, I've been getting a lot of video aliasing in video from directv - here's and an example: IMG_20190907_124805.jpg by Jeff Shoaf It happens on all channels, live and recorded and on demand. I've tried: Rebooting Changing hdmi cable Changed resolutions on dvr Moved to...

While I enjoyed the book, a lot of non-geeky folks won't like eating thru his thought processes and math so I always explain that when recommending the book.

I'm actually from NC and live just south of Andy Griffith's hometown, but I'm not a big fan of the show.

I recently turned 50 and I'm feeling my age, reflected in being grumpy -there's nothing on TV. I remember when the old pre-Fox SPEED had some form of racing on almost all the time - road racing with all classes of cars, motorcycles, road tractors, farm tractors, plus lawnmower racing, boat...

I thought it was pretty similar to Warehouse 13 as well and enjoyed it as a fun, light-hearted piece of fluff. I'll record and watch for a while at least. I see nothing wrong with the occasional piece of fluff to distract from all the crap going on out on the real world.

I got a free upgrade Saturday in the late time slot and got an HR44-700. I'm in NC.

I made it almost half way thru the first episode. There were a lot of things that irritated me, but the thing that bothered me the most was that the story went way too far making sure that each of the team members had something to do. Having been part of a lot of techie teams, Kimi know from...
