    all depends on company.. unless you want to mess with rooting it.. quite frankly quad-core is a minimum for decent performance on them.. I had a dual-core before my nexus7.. lot of aggravating pauses and delays..

    I bought an i7 laptop last year.. cold boot wasn't real fast.. then I put an intel 520 SSD in it.. now its less than 10 secs.. and that's to actually opening programs.. The difference was unbelievable.. and of course sleep to live is near instant..

    if the pc is older (esp if it's a p4) any newer one will save a ton.. my old server was a p4, pulled 100w actual 24/7.. replaced it with an i3 and it now runs 45w.. all the new I series chips are drastically better on energy use..

    With the amount of tiime I spend fixing all the "fix crappy driver" toys on cars now, there's no way I would ever ride in a automatic drive car.. we can't even keep the stuff we have working reliablely for a few years bouncing down the road..not to mention how much more they cost already...

    I run a geovission 8 port card in my server at home.. premium cameras (both in res and 30 or so ir leds) are a must.. The other thing I have is motion sensors to trigger recording so I only get recordings of something actually happening.. Also has lots of options including email a pic on...
