Bummer. Thanks. Seems like something like that would be a good idea .

Our HR20-700 has finally gone to meet it's maker, and a replacement is being sent, as we speak, by DTV. Now, the question... Can I plug a USB WIFI dongle into the USB slot, and by doing that, hook the DVR up to my wireless network? It sure would be nice! :)

So what did you think of it? How was the install? Just a switchover, or more bothersome?

Overstock.com? Dude, that's a bum steer! :-) Nada, Zip there. Of course, I could be experiencing a brain fart also. I will continue to look! However, Solid Signal looks good. :-) I kind of wanted to see one in person. Oh well, mayhaps that isn't going to happen. :-( Thanks though!!

Hmmm... Costco? I just so happen to be going there tomorrow! Thanks for the tip! :-)

I currently have a HR20-700 which is getting a bit long in the tooth (frequent sound skips, and occasional video jumps) Anyway, going online, I see the HR24-500 is now out, with decent reviews. I went to the nearest Worst Buy, errrr, I meant Best Buy, to check the unit out. :) Much to my...

Well, here in the Pacific Northwest, we frequently have lots of heavy rain clouds and rain, and we have never had any issues with rainfade.

At this point in time, I'd recommend Intel Core 2 Duo. AMD probably has a bit lower power consumption, but Intel has more UMMFF for the buck. Jory

I read on DBSTalk.com's sister website, AVS Forum, that KATU in Portland is now finally in MPEG4 HD. I checked on my HR20 available channels, and yup, there it is :-) Now, just one left. Koin. Wonder why it is taking so long. These companies have had enough time to talk to each other, untill...

Grrr, no posts in this topic since 12-21-06? It's mid March for Pete's Sake!!! Anyone hear anything as to when the rest of out locals are going to show up in Portland, OR, and Seattle, WA???????

Hmmm, I'm so confused!! I have had an HR-20 since October. And it's black. Didn't think anything of it. You mean it usually is silver? After reading this thread, I checked out Best Buy near me, their HR-20's are black. ??

Hello!! Anybody home? The Superbowl is a game. It may be 'Super', but it is still a game. A winterstorm can and does affect people's lives. Would you rather there not be a crawl at the bottom of the screen, and then later find out a family died out there in the weather because they didn't know...

DVI to TV using a adaptor for the HR20 side. Works like an absolute charm. AND none of the problems that seem to haunt HDMI. I use separate Monster cables for audio.

I downloaded 119 at 10PM PST Sunday night. And I am having problems. After the download when the HR20 went back to the regular TV channel it was on before, I discovered I lost my OTA!! I went to the OTA setup screen, selected reset, then selected initial install, to get them back. The thing is...

When will the MPEG 4 rollout be completed. Some towns don't have it yet, others, (like Portland, OR and Seattle, WA) only have a couple channels. They need to get going with that.

Zip 97055 Channel 2.1 Callsign: KATU-DT Software: 0x10b I can watch the channel fine using just the TV. But the HR20 doesn't get a signal.

Sigh... OK. Time to 'wake up' this thread once again. Any new info on more Portland OR, and Seattle HD local channels being added? WAKE UP D*, YOU ARE NOT DONE OVER HERE YET!! UNFINISHED BUSINESS!! At least my HR20 is about to start seeing local antenna OTA signals. I miss some the subs. PBS...

Who cares about the HOA. They can't say a thing about it, you are legally allowed to have a REASONABLE TV Antenna or dish on your roof. Do a Google search on the subject, you'll find both the law and the legal rigamarole about it. I ran into this about a year ago. The HOA had to backpedal mighty...

Any news on when the rest of the local HD channels in Portland and Seattle will be put on MPEG-4? We are waiting over here!! Portland only has FOX and NBC. What's up with that? Meanwhile they add HD channels in different cities, but they aren't done over here yet!! :nono2:  :(

Same here, My TV doesn't have an HDMI hookup, but does have a DVI hookup. Bought an $30.- adapter, hooked it up, and everything is hunky dory. The only thing I have seen that looks like a glitch is that pink FF button, and even then rarely. DVI doesn't do the handshake thang. :) And I still...
