Just got the same email that MrWindows posted above. This is the 1st time that it has happened to me. Usually it is a whole production of calling and asking, but looks like this year will be different. I wonder if the increased competition from streaming platforms for the Ticket is a factor in...

Excellent job on the spreadsheet. Thanks for your time and effort

I think that can be overridden. My year of $60 credits ends at the end of September, but when I received a call back about my disconnection yesterday, the account manager added another year of $60 and NFL ST Max for $0.

I had every intention of leaving Directv after my monthly credits stopped, so I called yesterday to see about a deal. The agent wanted to reduce my package as a solution, but that wouldn't work for me. So I set up a disconnection date. I figured with OTA, Netflix, Hulu and Prime I would be fine...

I literally just got off the phone with DirecTv. I simply asked if there is something I could get similar to a new customer offer and lower my bill. I have had Direct for 14 years, with paperless billing and Autopay. I was offered - MLB Xtra Innings for the rest of the year for $0 (1 yr...

I was looking to lower my costs. These days with OTA, Netflix, Hulu, Kodi and NFL Game Pass, Directv was looking a little too pricey. I called to see what they could do and was a little disappointed that they offered $20 off for 1 year, plus $5 off for 6 months and ST Max for $167 so I asked...

Hopefully it will be something along the lines of free equipment upgrades to the latest hardware.

Another vote for Denon. No problems with my 3808. However not using the Directv remote, using an URC MX-980.

Kind of...you can switch and equal # of premium services w/o the fee, but the 30 day clock restarts. That is I could add HBO/CMX and 10 days later change to STZ/SHO without incurring a fee. I would then have to keep STZ/SHO for 30 days from that point or switch to another combination of 2...

Lets see, in the last five years my mortgage interest rate (house payment) has gone down, the cost of my internet service has decreased, my natural gas rate (cost to heat and cook in my home) has decreased, my water and sewer bills haves stayed exactly the same. Beep, beep, beep...... Back up...

There are many monsters here, but since I pay DirecTv, my frustration is directed at them. I had no intention of making this a bash against DirecTv, and I am well aware of other costs in play, but perhaps the big, bad corporation can do with a little less, especially after I read things like...

True, and we could look at each one of those costs and develop a strategy to minimize or reduce each one. But that's why you higher excessively priced CEOs and others far smarter than I to control those costs and creatively manage other expenses to keep the overall cost of the product down. If...

However the increases outpace this cost and that's what causes frustration. Let's say that programming costs increased $1B this year, with 20 million subs, that averages out to $50 per sub to cover the entire programming increase DirecTv anticipates - thats $4.17/month. My bill increases by $7...

OK, I am a little confused. I can readily see that may Choice Extra Classic package will increase by $3.00, but what is this "Advanced Receiver Fee" for $23/$25? Is that for HD + DVR + MRV? I sure hope not because that means the current $21 will increase to $25. When all is said and done this...

I've been a DBS talk member for 6 years, I don't think that I should have to pay $1. Can someone @ DBS Talk credit me for that dollar? :)

Except he will have LOS at his son's house, as his son has Directv. I would suggest suspending your account for as long as possible and then have your account moved to your son's house. This would minimize any disconnect fee that either you or your son would be responsible for.

There are 2 types of electronic devices - those that have failed and those that are going to fail. Again he is not paying for the receiver, he was being asked to pay for the shipping of the receiver.

This seems more realistic. An offer was probably notated months ago, but all offers have a shelf life -whether dictated by policy or the system. As far as lying to you - that seems totally unnecessary, but sometimes it may be easier for the CSR to do that, than to be honest with you. This part...

This fee is Directv reserving the right to charge you if you fail to activate a receiver. I really think the non-activation fees are like unicorns... I have heard of them, but never actually seen them.

Fast forward 2-3 years when Dish comes out with it's newest thing and wants to charge existing customers for it. You can just switch the company names in your statement, and it will probably be just as true. Hope the move works out well for you.
