Ironically, I just placed an order for a new VAIO laptop last week. I just checked and it's not affected.

Wow, great timing DIRECTV! Too bad most of us in BR can't see anything, unless you've got a generator ;-)

One Tree Hill (The CW) That's the only one.

I've watched one since the rule went into effect. And I wish I was able to watch that movie, I tried to find it a few weeks ago (I forget ;-)). So, I'm pretty much done with PPV. But really there's no movies I want to see, so I don't care :D

Just to clarify, you definitely don't have to be a programmer or spend any time in the command line to get the most popular Linuxes up.

On your computer issue, how long ago was this and what distribution was it? For the most part, users coming to Ubuntu or openSUSE or any other modern distro (with the exception of Fedora, who don't include proprietary drivers in their product) would have a simple time with drivers and video...

So I got an invitation today, and right now it's basically the Hulu of Time Warner shows. There is a section for The WB originals, but it lists six shows along with a notice "coming soon". My main problem with it: it's all streaming. Even the originals will most likely be streaming only. What...

  14. DIRECTV SD DVR/Receiver Discussion
I've had mine since late December 2005. There have been times I've wanted to throw it out the window, and others in which I felt the need to thank it.

Ha ha... someone submitted this article to Digg and wrote in the story descrption "Maybe he can get a job with Comcast instead. " :D

Luckily for me they appear to only be in the HR2x DVRs right now. MY R15 doesn't have any. I would mind them myself, as long as they aren't more than one line big.

Installer: "Where's the money?" Customer: "You mean the TV?" Installer: "No, the money." TO be fair, I've never had a bad experience with a DIRECTV installer (of course, I haven't had one visit the house in 4 years, but you know ;-))

Urban Shopping Network? You mean The CW? :D
  19. DIRECTV SD DVR/Receiver Discussion
I agree the R15 is 193% better than it was... but DIRECTV needs to merge the codebases of R15 and HR20 or something, why shouldn't the SD DVRs include VOD and Ethernet ports? It befuddles me. And I just said befuddles. Dang it.
