That's right, I was told they can't do anything about it. I'm just waiting for Verizon to bury the F.O. cable and possibly add some HD channels and it's good bye DTV.

Of course. They said all they would do is note it in the account and if there were a new software version they would send it to the unit. There hasn't been a new SW ver. in the past 8 months. Protection is the department I talked to & the ones who wouldn't help.

:nono2:I've been a subscriber for about 10 years and spend roughly $150 a month on this "service". One of my half dozen receivers is an H20 HD model and it is the only H20 I have in the house. My 95 year old mother happens to have this hooked up to her TV. It has been locking up every day for...

I have to take exception to what you've (somewhat poorly) said about D**.I would never say they have the greatest service in the land but on the other hand it's far from the bottom (can you say cable). They are working with new technologies which can be buggy as hell and sometimes problems are...

Don't know if this will help any but I have a HR20-700 connected to a plasma in my living room and a RC34 in RF mode in that room, works fine. I ran a component cable from my A/V Receiver to the basement along with optical audio and hooked up a small LCD TV in my workout room. To change channels...

My 3rd email address snagged an activation key and all is well. This app seems to run great on this machine, fortunately it has the horsepower. I've not had any problems with the program, it sees both of HR20-700s and pulls shows quickly. Looks pretty solid but I've only been using it for 2...

Your problem is the DVI cable. I don't believe it is capable of doing HDCP which is why you got the RED. And I don't recall ever seeing any device that had both DVI & HDMI connectors so I think you are out of luck. HDCP is digital high definition copy protection incidentally.

I have been trying for 2 days to get a key from the Cyberlink folks with no luck. I have submitted 2 different email addresses and yes I actually downloaded both files, including running the "advisor" with all greens. The only email I received was one yesterday saying I'd already had 2 keys sent...

Well this is great. I have everything I need, the Directv2pc app, a pc that will run it, 2 HR20-700s, everything but the password to unlock the app. Don't know if my filters intercepted it or what but I can't do much without it?:)

Does anyone have any idea what kind of bandwidth this content is being sent to requestors? From the posts I've seen so far it must be a pretty good pipe. Just wondering how it may be when they start making significant volumes of HD available....

One of the downsides is that you're just leasing the box. If you drop the service you have to return the box. Or if it goes bad you'll need to exchange it, either one means you will need to open it up and swap drives again. Not that big a deal but it's about the main downside I see. The nice...

I had a reboot problem with both of my HR20s as well as just freezing in live TV. I discovered the problem to be my managed switch, which I had just replaced with an upgraded version. It seems that Flow Control was disabled on all ports. Once I enabled it the problem was solved. I would guess...

Well thanks to something I noticed in Doug Brott's post about the new code for H20's dealing with UPnP updates I got to thinking about my managed switch. I just happened to replace it with an upgraded version yesterday. It seems that the default setting for all ports was to disable flow control...

Hello, Yesterday afternoon I was watching TV when the image froze. I spent the next 3 hours rebooting the HR20-700 in the living room. Every time it would get to somewhere in the 2nd screen where it's downloading info from the sats (usually around 85% - 90%) it freezes. It will maintain that...

I had an H20-100 for over 6 months which worked flawlessly. I moved it to a plasma set a week ago. It worked for 2 days then died. For a while it cycled through the resolution lights but no power light. After a day of that it just went completely dead. D* swapped it out a couple days ago and no...

Their are 2 other ways: Digital Optical (Toslink) and 5.1 channel analog though the analog method would require an amp capable of digital to analog conversion as the HR20-700 doesn't have 5.1 channel analog outputs. The easiest way is to just use the optical output and run it into a good A/V...

When you go into setup by hitting the MENU button you will have a column on the left with a main window to the right. Choose Remote then on the right choose to program the remote. When you select TV hit the Select button and a screen should popup with nearly every brand of TV made (in the last...

You're right, it isn't that expensive but on a run of that length he will need a repeater of some type. I have a run of about 40 feet and had to put in a $70 wall plate with built-in repeater to get the video signal. It would not pass audio so I ran a Toslink cable which worked great.

I need to check my bill to see if they have done the same to me & if so I'll email them as well. Thanks for the info!
