Thanks armchair, I'll give that a try. Ben

Tried a couple of different remotes. Exact same behavior. What I've noticed is that if there is a period of time after the first 30 second slip is recognized (based on the time position bar coming up on the bottom of the screen and the skip forward symbol being shown with a one above it) but...

I've got a ton of unused DirecTV remotes around so I'll try a couple and see if that helps. As you said it certainly can't hurt to try.

I've done restart and the remote has new batteries in it. I'm also fairly certain this isn't an issue between the receiver and the remote, rather with the H24 (and only the H24) playing back MRV. I notice you only show HR24s in your config so I wouldn't expect you would have seen this...

Hello all, I have the whole home DVR service activated with 4 HR2x DVRs and an H24. The service works fine on all receivers but displays some very annoying bugs when watched on the H24. While watching recorded programming on the H24 if I attempt to fast forward through a commercial by hitting...

Interesting, I hadn't thought about the notion that different models would interact differently. I have two HR20s, an HR22 and a H24. I haven't noticed differences in timing between the various devices though I haven't paid that close of attention to each device combination. I'll do that and...

After using the MRV beta for a while (several months ago) I finally had the production version of MRV installed and dissembled the component based distribution system that I was using to provide content to all the TVs in the house. I'm noticing two things that are a little frustrating. I...

Do you know which model you are (or did) going to get? I'm very curious to know what DirecTV is shipping these days. Thanks Ben

One two of my three HR2x DVRs all the recordings were deleted. The one that still has the recordings is a HR20-700, an HR22 and a HR21 both deleted their recordings. I'm 99% sure no one in the house deleted the recordings (it's just my wife and I) and am at a loss to explain the issue. Anyone...

If it's helpful to anyone I've also written a command line script. I've been using it for about two years with girder. I wrote it before DTV supported more than two IR codes so that I could control a third HR. Now I just use it for some random automation tasks that I want to perform. At any...

Yep, I'm having the exact same problem. I'm glad (in that sick sort of way) to know that I'm not alone and the problem isn't with any of my equipment. Ben

A new version has been posted with the on and off commands added. Good luck Ben

It's possible but I'm not sure what you're thinking? The HR20 doesn't support network control as far as I know. So really it would be an IPhone app to control a server of some sort. For that, I'd just use a web page. So really that's no trouble at all. Did you have something else in mind? Ben

Ah, good point. For my install I don't use the power functions so I didn't code them. I'll add them tonight and post another version shortly. They'll be (surprisingly) controlhr20.exe on controlhr20.exe off

So I've realized I provided no syntax on how to use the application. Most of it is fairly straightforward though there are some commands I need to lookup when I'm at home in front of the source. examples: c:\controlHR20\controlhr20.exe play c:\controlHR20\controlhr20.exe pause...

I've made the program available at http://www.medill.net/controlhr20 Good luck, let me know if you have problems. Heck, let me know if you use it and it works for you. Ben

Yeah, I can. I think on the machine that's actually doing the control I'm using Girder 4, though I did the development on a machine running Girder 5. Shouldn't matter at all to Girder as all you're doing is calling an external program. I guess if you're going to use a usb-uirt you have to be...

I'm pretty sure at this point that it does all of them. If it's missing any adding them is trivial. The DirecTV spec is pretty complete about laying out all the button equivalencies. Also, there are a bunch of routines they allow you to run, things like returning the signal strength vial the...

Your response just made me realize an interesting thing. If you're using multiple receivers you would probably want the ability to specify the comport from the command line rather than through a config file. I can support either but if it's via a config file you'll have to have seperate...

Carl, I'm going to publish a link for it this evening. There are a few things I need to do in order to make the application a little more friendly to distribution (like move configuration settings to a seperate config file). Yes people with an interest in an application like this can be...
