Saw a response to that effect from one of the DIRT members on the other forum, can't find it now. But he said that he had questioned the engineers and that was their response. I hope I'm am wrong (it has happened once or twice), but I'm afraid I'm not.

I don't think that they are going to fix it because it isn't a bug, it's a feature. IOW, it is working like they want it to. If you don't subscribe to a channel, you are not allowed to watch recordings from that channel.

I'll add to the chorus, the grass is greener with the Hopper. I had two HR21 and an R16 and my whole family was fed up with the slow response times and the ignore remote problem. Switched to a 2 Hopper and 2 Joey system and everything is great. Does the Hopper have issues? Sure, like any...

I can see this from Dish's viewpoint -- Having a mix of cabling in a single home would cause all sorts of problems when customers try to move boxes around. You can't just take the Hopper from the bedroom and hook it up where the 722 was in the living room, it won't work.

Yea, it looks like it is reset every time the box is rebooted.

Yea, that was my thinking also. I had also been hoping that the new DirecTiVo would meet my needs, but what finally came out was intentionally crippled and a major step back. But I've been as giddy as a school girl since I got the Hopper. Sure, it has some bugs and some features are not fully...

That was one of the reasons that I went with two Hoppers instead of just the one. If one fails, I should still be in business with the other.

I jumped to Dish for the Hopper/Joey after living with the dog slow HR21 for nearly two years (I had to pay $80 ETF). I was simply tired of fighting it. I had been with DirecTV for over 15 years. Of course, after I already had the Hopper installed, DirecTV now said that they could get be two...

Yea, I'm not getting it either. Why don't you just record the game? Problem solved.

    Yes.

Bit of clarification -- The Joey can mirror the same Live TV stream as the Hopper, with both having shared control of the single stream, but it cannot truly mirror a recording. They can both play the same recording, but it will be treated as two separate streams. That's a minor problem in our...

My option isn't there either. 3 people, 2 Hoppers and 2 Joeys.

I was a little worried about 'HD Lite' warnings when I decided to go with Dish after 15+ years with DirecTV, but I have to say, I just don't see the difference in HD quality between the two. Technically DirecTV may is better, but if I can't tell the difference, what does it matter. (This is...

I have several timers set for PTAT shows and they show up on the user side as they are suppose to and I was watching one of them to make sure that it wasn't using an additional tuner. Works like a charm.

I think that he is talking about Dish Unplugged where it will record HBO shows on its own late a night and have them available via the On Demand menu. I haven't tried it myself since I do have an internet connection.
  17. DIRECTV General Discussion
Just a couple of comments -- Yes, setting a timer for a PTAT show will not use an extra tuner and will save that episode onto user side of the drive. No 'baby sitting' required. If the three tuners are not enough, then you can get a second Hopper giving you six tuners for up to 9 shows...

Second Hopper is $7, just like a Joey.

You can also set up a timer for a PATA show and it will automatically save it to your side of the drive and save it however long specify without using an additional tuner.

I know y'all keep saying that, but I'm just not seeing it anymore. Dish's new hardware is better, their website is better, they are cheaper, the Dish installer was knowledgeable unlike the idiot that DirecTV sent out the last time that I finally had to throw off my property and finish the...
