That's cool. I hope they move on to stations in Philly or NYC later on.

361-2 is now WBAL 11 from Ballymore.

 OK I'm confused. I checked at 10 pm Central (11 pm Eastern) and 361-1 was a DirecTV slate and 361-2 was Weather Channel. I check again now based on this post and they're both the same. No Weather Nation, no ABC 7. Are these feeds only regional or something? I've looked in three...

According to the article linked above, we should be getting several more channels from this company including ones dedicated to travel, cooking and cars.

So I finally figured this out, and a gold star to NR4P for getting it right before I even knew the answer. Next door to where I live is my grandmother's house and she has a completely separate DirecTV Genie system. But apparently hers has built-in wifi, unlike mine. My father was over there...

HR-34/700 with one Genie client, although I don't remember the model number for it.
  7. DIRECTV General Discussion
I don't think so, but I will double check to be sure. Single house, locked down wifi. The DirecTV Genies are hard-wired. That's just it - there is nothing in my TO DO list saying these were selected to record, or that they were recorded. And when I deleted them, they did not free up any...

While checking out my list of recorded programs tonight on the DVR, I notice that out of the blue I've got a week's worth of both The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives listed. I know they weren't there yesterday, and everyone in the house has denied setting up a recording for these...

I think the days when other channels would be commandeered for Christmas was when they carried XM, before the Sirius XM merger. A friend with Dish (which still has SXM) has something like three or four Christmas channels already, replacing other legit music channels. Sonic TAP is what we have...

It's not just the produced content, it's the movies and series as well. A lot of them are showing up letterboxed. I don't think they'd go through an HD upgrade at their end unless they have plans to eventually launch an HD feed of some sort, even if that may be a few years off.

Because that wouldn't make sense to AT&T. AT&T has only gotten as big as it has by conquering and consuming smaller successful players, not by innovating anything itself. It's the only way they have gotten this dominant while having such horrible service, horrible customer service and horrible...

I don't know how channel negotiations work, but it would nice if they were able to add it quickly, having already negotiated a spot for it in the last round of channel talks. I'd hate for Chiller fans to have to wait until contracts are up (or a new one specifically for Chiller HD) were negotiated.

I would up the ante by suggesting that these mergers NEVER give the customers any benefits. At least that's been my observation as one who has witnessed the aftermath of countless tech sector mergers. I fear a combined DirecTV and AT&T would be as big a content bully as Comcast is now by...

There is one tiny exception and that's the channel marked "QVC Plus", which is an SD-only tape delay of content from the main channel. It sounds like the stupidest idea in the world to replay old QVC stuff but every time I've caught my own mother watching TV, it's been QVC Plus in SD instead of...

DirecTV replayed the D15 launch from French Guiana on some obscure channel in the 2000s the other night, I found it quite by accident. When I fast forwarded through the 1:20 long program (for a 6 minute launch!?) one of the blurbs about the satellite said it would be for "DirecTV 4k Ultra HD"...

Ah, I stand corrected then. Or sit. Silently. :)

Last I heard, Nicktoons was not available in HD.

Interesting that you mention Scripps-Howard... I'm watching a recorded HGTV program and is breaking up like crazy. And they're also owned by Scripps-Howard. My local NBC station is owned by Deerfield and run by Sinclair, though.

I'd be happy to sit on a waiting list to get what I want.
  20. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Thanks for the replies, everyone. I hate it that they have this policy of not letting us pick which model receiver we want, since that would solve a lot of problems and make people happy. I know that the HR44 seems superior in every way from my very limited experience with that model. Edit for...
