  1. DIRECTV General Discussion
I saw the news of the spinoff and can only hope that existing subscribers will not continue to be treated like crap. I left because AT&T refused to deal at all. And when they did try to deal, they lied through their teeth and did not honor what they told me. So to the curb they were kicked...
  2. DIRECTV Connected Home
I haven't done the bundling because I have a corporate discount and am not sure if that would mess that up. I have only reset my password via AT&T but not combined them yet. I have seen this issue in a Google search but no solution yet.
  3. DIRECTV Connected Home
I don't think I have done that yet. I'll double check that though.
  4. DIRECTV Connected Home
I was trying to fire up Watch ESPN so I could take a look at my Jacksonville State Gamecocks today. I try and try and try to log in and it keeps giving me "Invalid User ID-Email And Password Combination". Well, I have reset it three times and i can log into DirecTV but cannot to WatchESPN...
  5. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Another question with this. I do DHCP reservations on my network. Currently the HR44 is on WiFi. Does the wired jack share the MAC or is the MAC different? If different, where might I find it so I can set the reservation properly?

All other satellites and transponders that are usually 90+ were 90+ when the 771 appeared on local NBC (WNCN). I understand that WNCN is on 103(s) from the spreadsheet. I'll have to confirm the submodel, but the receiver at the time was a HR44. I did not check the Genie Mini's since it was...
  7. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
There is something quite wrong with my setup right now. There is not a cloud in the sky and I have zeroes on 103(s) across all transponders/tuners. I've been seeing quite a few more dropouts than I would expect with a clear LoS. All other satellites are as you would expect them to be...

Thanks, that's what I thought. In my case, the router and HR44 are in the same cabinet. Trying to make that area my A/V, internet space. Working out well except my cable management stinks at this time. That will get fixed though.
  9. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Quick and easy one here. When my HR44 was installed, we connected it to WLAN. My network is changing since I finally got my fiber internet installed. I want to wire the HR44 given that fact. Can go router --> HR44. Or do I need to go router --> broadband DECA --> sat cable? I can do either...

Thanks for the transponder info. I will look next time I get a chance at those. I know the high thunderstorms can block signal. Have seen that happen a few times at sports bars. I saw the red dot on the radar but didn't think it to be enough to cause fade. I'll look for sure on a cloudless day.

Question though. A storm is rolling in and we're getting rain fade. It isn't here yet but I think where the dish is, there should be no obstructions even occasional. What sat/transponders do you guys look at most to figure out if there is an issue? Most of 101 is 97+. I can't remember this...
  12. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
Well, I said I preferred everything wired. That's when he said that about the broadband deca. It was a bit later, when all was closing, that I yanked one out of my box of goodies here and said "this thing?"
  13. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
When/if I ad another TV, I'll probably pull my old H24 out of the box it's in and run that.
  14. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
So the installer, Josh, came out today. He looked in great wonder at why the previous techs said 1) he would need a 40' ladder, 2) they needed to do a pole, 3) why would they pass up an easy install? He got in and out in maybe 90 minutes but probably less than that. Everything is installed...
  15. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
The saga continues. Was supposed to install this (Thursday) morning and got a call last night saying the distribution office was broken into and they had no equipment. So now move to Monday. <crossing fingers> Positive is it gives me more time to get rid of boxes and have things sorted.

I downloaded SatFinder on the phone for curiosity sake. Standing where they wanted to put the pole, about 7 feet high since the phone was above my head, I could see the three birds clearly. Certainly 6-8 feet higher would not have any issue. Roof pitch is pretty steep but I don't believe it...
  17. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
Well, it has been some time since I have aimed a dish and some time away from here, guess I missed 110 and 119 no longer being used. Here's what I see on dish pointer which led me to believe something isn't right with the math, angles, and what not. I know it will get installed somehow but...
  18. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
It wasn't trees this time. They tried to say the peak of the roof was blocking 110 from where I want the dish. They never pulled out a ladder to check. I think that's the part that bugs me. At least the last time I tried to get service, the installer got up and checked multiple points before...
  19. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
So, the story is titled "Frustration All Around". Not just DirecTV but CenturyLink as well. DirecTV part since it's most relevant. Was supposed to install Friday, but would not get to the house till 9pm or later. Rescheduled for Monday. Tech arrives and promptly is talking about putting...

Thanks Carl. That's good to know for when I add TV's.
