  1. DIRECTV General Discussion
I use to have it (I think), then when they changed my dish to a SL5 Slimline years ago, they took out the external multiswitch and had to start using the B-Boxes.

hmm. should have done this last night. the receiver that is having issues is a H24/100, I checked my 2nd which is an H21 or H23 I think, don't remember which. anyway its levels for T23 & T24 are in the mid-70's. so I reset the coax connections *again* on the H24, including the SUP-2400 B-Band...

we've looked into it, but no new (practical) location on the house gets it out of a shadow. lot of trees around here. :) I'll get someone out here to at least look at the LNB. We've had some nasty weather since the last time a tech came out and something could have happened. the dish itself is...

yep, would love to get them higher, but every installer/tech who has been out over the past 15 years says the same thing, "it's your neighbor's tree." it's huge and exactly in the wrong spot. ;) but back to T24 & T24, seem strange that they alone are down significantly.

I tried to tune into the Golf HD channel the other day and it worked for about 2 seconds and then there was our favorite 771 error. After looking at the transponder list, GolfHD is on T23-99(ca) imagine my surprise when I found that both T23 & T24 on 99(ca) & 103(ca) are down 30 points in level...

Actually, just today I received an H24-200 from Solid Signal. I realize it's going to reset the contract, not thrilled about it but there ya go. The "no contract" pre-owned receiver market I'm a little squeamish of. Don't care about the interface, both receivers I have live in a SageTV system...

Tech just left. Ancient LNB. Replaced. D14 now in the high 80's. I'll still probably swap out the H20 for an H24, just because. Thanks everyone!

Then what? LNB's? Old dish? Alignment? All the above? ;)
  9. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
I'll ask the tech when he sees it tomorrow if he thinks the dish should be replaced (I think the protection plan would cover it). well, getting signals like me isn't encouraging. :) I went outside with satellite finder app(s) and the DirecTV array of sats appears to sit just enough away from...

yep. I'm in California in the Bay Area. we'll see what the tech says on Wednesday. we've had a lot of wind (and critters, i.e. racoons) up there over the past few years, so maybe the dish has been jiggled some. it's also getting a bit rusty, if that matters. I have a fairly large roof to work...

The tree is definitely a big part of the problem, but the 99ca is a bit lower than the 99cb. today T17 & T19 are not at 0. FWIW, 101 & 119 are in the 90's.
  12. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
yeah, I think it's a factor. though only the odd transponders on D14, T17 & T19, appear to be the most severely effected (maybe it's normal to work that way for obstructions, I don't know). T18 & T20 are low but at least have some signal.
  13. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Well, after some further investigation, it seems my issue is with D14@99w T19 (ComedyHD, LifetimeHD, HistoryHD...). My H21 has the same 771 now, though it was working there this morning. Someone will be out mid next week to check the dish. Guess I'll head to the general forum to see if I'm not...
  14. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
well, that's pretty clear cut. :) guess it's time to replace it then. we have a slight (neighbor's) tree-obstruction in our sky view, the H21 we have has always handled the lower signals just a bit better than the H20 anyway. Any opinions on a replacement, H24 vs H25 (I know the latter is...
  15. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
I have an old H20-100. OLD. :) It works so I haven't changed it out. Today I had an issue on both of my receivers receiving Lifetime HD 253 with a 771. Haven't had my dish peaked in probably 5 years so hopefully that'll take care of it. Thing is on the H20, whenever I being up the Signal...
  16. DIRECTV General Discussion
well, I bypassed the WB68. I had go through the satellite setup twice to get the H20 to be happy. I believe the setup guide still says the odd transponders aren't working on 99 & 103, but the signal checks and channel tuning say otherwise. Transponders 23 & 24 on D12 now are in the 70's, which...

I only have 3 receivers (the 3rd is a Sony used for music only). I'll try bypassing and report back. I assume I can ignore the 18v 13v etc. designations on the WB68 inputs?
  18. DIRECTV General Discussion
I have two receivers, an H21-100 and an H20-100 running through a WB68 (w/old slimline dish). The past couple of weeks the H20 has been getting constant 771's on channels like FXHD, FXX and FSWD. Restarts fix it for a short time before it goes all 771 again. Turns outs they are all on the same...
  19. DIRECTV General Discussion
Since I've turned off the Dolby Digital option on the DirecTV receivers and went straight PCM a couple weeks ago, the "brrrippps" are gone. I've decided the trade off of lower fidelity is worth it.
  20. DIRECTV SD DVR/Receiver Discussion
had a tech out to check levels since 103 was looking really low (he put in a new LNB which took care of that) and he thought the Sony was toast. Tried it on a different ports on the switch etc. Still no go on odd transponders. I now have a D11 in its place. It lasted 10+ years so that isn't...
