I have turned to ITUNES as a way to see Doctor Who in HD.
That is $3 a show - ugh. I too am VERY disappointed DirecTv
hasn't picked up BBC America in HD.
I am just outside of Atlanta, Ga.
I have been getting 95-96 on all transponders
except for 19 that is 87. I have had these values
since D12 started sending a signal usable on my
three DVR's. :D
When WGCL in Atlanta Georgia switches from Local to Network programming, the sound and picture breaks up for 10 to 30 seconds. There are sometimes minor loss of audio during a network program from 1/8 to 1/4 seconds at random intervals. I am now recording most of my CBS programs OTA. The OTA...
They normally don't pass the signals in the same format
as OTA that you would pick up with an antenna. They
are "re encoded" in QAM format. If your parents tv supports
QAM - check manual - then you might be able to receive the basic
programming on their cable system. Most cable systems do NOT...
My HR22 and HR20-100 locked up while recording the
Soap the Young and the Restless. The recording did not
stop at 1 hour but continued for an additional 2 and 1/2 hours
until I rebooted both DVR's - when I came home and discovered
the problem.
I am enjoying my HR20 but it
is not as reliable as my Tivo Series 3.
I use the QAM tuner and Basic cable
to record my local Atlanta Stations more
often than the HR20. WSB-DT on DirecTv
has been very bad this last week!
Also, watching a recording while recording
two other channels has caused...
I just noticed josejrp's post saying
he sees the problem on the OTA
transmission. It is reasonable to assume
small errors in the OTA transmission will
translate to Large errors in the Mpeg4
re-encoding. Not sure what Comcast is
doing to avoid the problem.
Just watched a segment of Harry Potter.
DirecTV channel 2 HD has audio studder
and dropped frames.
Comcast Channel 2 (98.3 QAM) shows none of these
issues.
I am guessing there is an issue with the Mpeg4
encoding of WSB's signal by DirecTv.
I'm getting the 771 on select SD channels. Looking at my signal strength, I am getting 0 for transponders 6,8,14,16,22,24,30,32
Basically columns 6 and 8 are all 0's all the way down(using the HR20).
5:50 EST March 25th
I saw the problem on my HR20-700. I have
seen the Green Blobs on several of my recording
from channel 11.
I have a TIVO and recorded Medium from Comcast
QAM. There where no issues in the recording from
Comcast.
