How about this. I do hate it just sitting here.

thanks! All its costs and faults aside (and that is a big aside) I feel strongly that DTV is the best provider for viewing traditional TV content, including sports. I just don't view traditional content and sports much anymore.

Other than an occasional NBA game, NASCAR race or college football, no I guess not.

I didn't personally take any offense to these comments. It would have been welcome had I not already thought through that. Our family with all the Netflix and Youtube were already up to 2TB monthly and occasionally over even before TV streaming came up. Paying the extra was actually a plus...

I like it! thanks for pointing that out.

with our plan it was 2TB, but even then , we pay another 30 or 40 dollars for truly unlimited.

My time here started as my kids were born in 06 and 07, pretty stressful time, and the rise of HD television. I had Comcast cable but hated, hated, hated their boxes, menus and recording. I signed up with the round dish and a couple of Tivo DirecTV boxes. I eagerly awaited the Tivo HD boxes...

I called to cancel. I rarely watch TV anymore. I watch youtube and iTunes purchased content much more. With the exception of a rare channel surfing session, some sport or some random episode of a tv show I don't watch Last year I suspended service for 6 months that were allowed and nobody...

I like Elgato Game Capture HD. it works great. requires play and record of course and/or get yourself a really really big hard drive so you don't really even have to erase stuff.

There are plenty of "owned" HR2x units out there for sale. I bought 2 x HR24's and 1 HR44 "owned" that way. I would say that buying these is a bit of gambling as 1. On the seller's end they could be mistaken or deceptive 2. Activation can be tricky as many CSR's really don't know how to put...

Master BDR 1, Kitchen 1, Living Room - 3 ( Sort of a multiple viewing bar-like thing I liked ), Large Basement 2, Guest Bdroom 1. Master Bath - H25 Yes, turned out that 3 of those were the ones used 99% of the time. I had some DirecTivo's for awhile, got a little burned by the first HD Tivo...

At one point I had 8 HR22's and an H25. Cancelled most and said to heck with the guest rooms too. One at a time I replaced the remaining 3 with an HR44 and 2 HR24's. These I bought "owned" from eBay. Purchase and activation not for the faint of heart and not entirely straight forward but...

Yes. This happened to me a couple of years ago. Drove me nuts trying to figure it out and everybody here was correct. I don't really bother with slingboxes any longer though. I have dtv now and also sign in directly to channel apps.

I've always "bought" my own equipment from Solid Signal for this reason. Maybe reps shouldn't be this clueless, but to me it was worth not having the headache.

I didn’t talk to a human. It’s automated. I guess i could try to reach a person tomorrow.

    well I know 4 works
  17. DIRECTV Programming
Been cutting back on programming and receivers as I just don't watch as much as I used to. Also grandfathered on to DTV Now full package which I think has a lot of promise. Cut from Xtra to Entertainment, losing Weather, NBA, NFL, Golf, Tennis, Travel, couple others I watch but not real...

its a full 3.5 believe it or not
  19. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
Unless its an H25 I'm not sure what the advantage is in replacing the LNB. That's the only model in this scenario that would require that. All the other ones would take the legacy line just fine with no LNB replacement or PI required.
  20. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
It was the PI. In retrospect it was obvious as the SWM16 was room temp. I probably shouldn't have bought another SWM16 and 2 PI's, otoh, they were only 30 dollars total for brand new .
