You've been more than clear about your feelings for streaming, but here's the thing, you have issues with your broadband, because AFAIC, streaming is by far better than linear TV. The only thing that bugs me a bit is the delay on live sports but even that's not bad enough to complain about. You...

Can't speak for anyone else, but I'll stick to my Roku Ultras.

Nothing to do with hardware. The MLB.tv app on Android and Roku required constant reauthorization. But we're beating a dead horse here. I subscribed directly through MLB.

It was an issue for EI subs. I don't know if it affected other providers but it was a PITA and I'm not going to bother with it again. I've gotten most of my TVs to streaming only and I'm not going through that nonsense again.

I canceled EI this year because of the constant need to reauthenticate constantly on the MLB.tv app. But I do have the sports pack and noticed many spring training games available without blackouts.

    Well then, there you go.

Yes, and the PQ is excellent with HDR10 Okay, I missed that part; sorry. But I would suggest the OP, if has a 4K streaming device available, just give the Directv app a try. 4K is free with the package so it's possible it can be added without a 4K client. At this point, we're all guessing.

You guys are all adding in a high level of complexity that could wind up costing the OP in the long run. I'm sticking with my advice...buy a Roku (the Roku Stick 4K will do everything up to Dolby Vision; if the OP has an Atmos sound system, a Roku Ultra will be needed) and use the Directv app...

I'm done ordering it through Directv. Constant re-authorization for streaming on the MLB app is a royal PITA. I'm just going to go direct through MLB.

Well, I'll throw this out at you. I've had an HS17 with C61s for (I think) six years with no issues at all but I already sent back one wireless mini and going to send back another. I'm using Rokus on the TVs that don't get heavy use with the Directv app which has a better picture quality than...

Exclusive is a bit of a misnomer here. The game will be available free OTA in KC and Miami. I know that helps nobody outside those areas but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

No offense taken. Back in the day I had a full audio system. Soundbars have come a long way and I'm happy enough with it.
  13. DIRECTV Programming
I'm using a soundbar with up-firing speakers. Not quite as same, I'm sure, but pretty good.

I agree. I have no issue paying the extra few bucks for a better viewing experience.

+1 for the Roku app. Also +1 for the drawbacks. It's certainly not for channel surfers, especially on a slower device. That said, the picture quality is better than satellite in my experience so I've taken to using the app even on the two TVs I have left with clients if I know what I'm going to...

I'm sure it's a tad gimmicky but it's a good way to bring attention to the sound quality, which I have found to be superb.

I stopped subbing to Center Ice because of the superior PQ on ESPN+. The only thing I miss are the 4K HDR games on NESN and Altitude. It's a very rare occurrence now where Directv delivers a better picture than streaming. That even includes using the Directv app on Roku and other streaming...

I wouldn't doubt it but that's irrelevant. It's the HDR that has always made the biggest impact.
  19. DIRECTV Programming
I may well be in the minority, but that is the number one advantage to me for anything I can get on linear tv. I was very pleasantly surprised when I watched NCIS: Sidney on Paramount+ and it was in Dolby Vision!

South Jersey is in a gray area. I'm a stone's throw from Cherry Hill in Medford. Even against Philly teams, MSG/MSGSN games are blackout-free. The hockey games are also available via ESPN+ but they are blacked against Philly. I moved to South Jersey more than eight years ago. There's nothing...
