  1. DIRECTV Programming
Same here says "1501 (HBO) is currently not available". All other On Demand "channels" seem to be working fine.
  2. DIRECTV General Discussion
I agree the Comcast DVRs (at least the motorolas that I've used) don't compare to Directv's HR line. A lot of that can be blamed on Comcast, because their software makes the boxes even worse than they could be. Unless you live in an Xfinity area and plan on getting a TIVO (you will lose...

For me the two Epix Channels, Universal HD, and HD Theater make it worth it. Haven't watched much of Shorts, Indieplex, or Retroplex yet but from what I've read they also have some interesting programming. Guess it all depends on what you're interested in. Epix shows a lot of older movies as...

The Military Channel is owned by Discovery Networks and used to be called the Discovery Wings channel. Yes other channels from the old discovery suite have gone HD (Discovery Channel, Science Channel, Animal Planet and the newer Discovery HD Theater) the only two that don't have HD versions are...

Well personally I disagree that USB 2.0 will always be fast enough. It may work ok now for what dish is using it for, but I could see a time in the future when their choice of the slower interface might become a bigger issue. I'd rather pay the "premium" to add support for the faster and IMHO...

Thanks to everyone who answered. I guess I can understand dish wanting to keep costs down when designing their receivers. However I find it funny that there are 5 year old motorola HD DVRs out there that have both USB and eSATA (there lower case e). Also, as already stated, Directv included both...

Another question I have, sorry if I'm getting off topic. Has anyone successfully upgraded the internal Drive in their VIP 922 to a 2TB drive?
  9. DISH™ High Definition Discussion
Really ,then what data is stored on the EHD? There is data stored on it and the Dish receiver needs to read/write to the drive. Has any one filled up their EHD with over 1TB worth of programming? Anyone have a diagram showing exactly how dish's archiving system works and what data gets stored on...

I would have considered buying a VIP 922 if it used ESATA instead of old slow USB 2.0. In my opinion Directv got it right using ESATA, but disabling the internal drive while the external is connected is annoying.

Something like that was done years ago (Mid '90s) by Starsight and was available on Uniden branded C/KU band receivers. I don't think Starsight is any longer in business. Not sure why Directv and/or Dish Network don't implement that type of guide.I've been looking for someone to introduce...

As more programming becomes available in HD and the size of the content being downloaded becomes larger, wont the bandwidth caps that many of these ISPs have in place now come into play. Do you think companies like AT&T ,Comcast, Cox, TWC etc. will eventually remove these caps? Most likely we...

I have Vista Ultimate 64 installed on two different PCs and haven't had much problem with it at all.No more than I had with Windows XP.For me Vista actually runs faster and smoother than XP ever did.So saying everyone is too broad a generalization.I'm not saying that M$ is without it's faults or...

Don't have and will not be getting a console gaming system.Any game I would want to play I can do so on any of my PCs.

Having service with all 3 of them, I can say each has it's pluses and minuses. For me this is how I see each. Directv has the best overall HD lineup and also has NFL ST.I may be in the minority here but I prefer the HR 21 slightly over the VIP722.The Directv unit has better networking tools...

I have service with Dish Network, Directv, Comcast, and will soon have my C/KU band system back up with a DSR-922 and maybe a Pansat 9200HD. I'm looking for a good customizable program guide where I can set up channels from all those providers. So far I have had no luck finding one online, the...

I'm surprised there are not more people that want a basic feature like Auto-tune (without record). That is the #1 new feature on my wish list, along with the dual live buffers, and PIP.

Well like I said, I'm one of those customers who is not happy with the way things are now. That's why I will be reading more into the laws and then contacting my representatives. In reality, I will most likely just be wasting my time. 210+ or 1000+ channels, what will Satellite providers do in...
