Unhappy Ending: It had been a few weeks since I'd heard from him. Last we talked he was going to see about getting another receiver installed in the house-attached garage, and then we would drill through the wall just below grade, run the coax underneath a narrow hardscaped walkway, and...

Agreed. If we do anything along these lines it will likely be having them setup a second TV in the house and then porting it either by wire or a wireless bridge to the pool house afterwards. I need to get a couple of DECA's and test my theory.

Thanks for all of the input. I agree that it was low move to charge him for the visit. Not sure what option we'll take. That wireless bridge with two DECA's is still intriguing to me. Easiest by far would be a second dish at the pool house. I'll encourage that first and probably a switch to that...

    His internet service is abysmal.

He actually did that first. The tech came out and told him it couldn't be done. He was charged $50 for the service.

New question. Has anyone here tried using a wifi bridge with DECA adapters in lieu of having coax from point A to point B?

That's a good idea for the cable length, but what do we need to connect the second receiver to the one dish? Just one of these and cable? https://www.amazon.com/Directv-Approved-2-Way-Splitter-2-Pack/dp/B01G9AZ78E

Trying to help a buddy out with getting a second receiver out by his pool. He currently has a single DirecTV basic receiver at one TV in the den. That's it. No DVR. No additional receivers. The existing receiver is about 60 feet cable length from the dish in his yard. The second receiver would...

Solved. I was doing the learning method wrong. Got it right tonight with the aid of some good Scotch whisky. Thanks for the help!

I may have to go that route. Was hoping to avoid doing that because it's convenient for my wife to have a remote as well. Perhaps I'll get a Harmony for her and I'll keep using the two in tandem.

There is. I have also tried that, which is what I referred to as the "learning method" above. No glory there either.

Hopper 3 Yamaha YAS-209 I can't find a working setup to control the volume on the soundbar. Tried both the 1-12 test and next method and the learning method. The bar is not listed in the Yamaha equipment list. Any Help?
  13. General DISH™ Discussion
Price is inconsequential to me. I want to watch TV and recorded programs and not have to "jiggle the handle". I've had Dish and Direct. Dish wins in all areas. I throw away the come back offers from Direct on a regular basis. I would not go back to them if they paid me $100/month. Life's too...

After nearly five years my Hopper showed its first signs of trouble this morning when the HDD reformatted itself. I lost all recordings and timers, but there wasn't much on there anyway, so it was a good time to crash. I just got off chat with DIsh and my new H3 system will be installed day...

I have the same equipment and experience none of those issues. My guess would be a failing hard drive. Have you contacted Dish CS about it?

LOL. I never knew they were there. Don't watch any of them, and I fully support Dish and DirecTV when they get into pricing disputes with carriers. I appreciate them trying to keep my costs down. There may be others who are not satisfied, but disagreeing with me about my own satisfaction would...

Which channels? Must not be the ones I'm watching from my 70 acres. :righton: I really am sorry that a completely satisfied Dish customer bothers you so much. You should get that looked at.

It depends on your perspective. It's pretty green here at my new place. And since my equipment just plain works, I get to spend more time out there enjoying it. Does DTV still have that secret squirrel weekly guinea pig club thing going on? :rolling:
  19. Hopper System Support Forum
Reviving this old thread just to update that my complete satisfaction with Dish and with the Hopper/Joeys system has only increased with time. I have now used the equipment for over three years, and it has been completely flawless. It is today as fast and responsive as it was the first day we...
