Called in this morning, played retention CSR roulette (i.e., "when does my contract end" at prompt and then hung up until I got the person I wanted, I only wanted to speak to a lady retention CSR, I find they are better in general) until I got a nice lady in Tennessee call center. Explained how...

Every year I've had NHLCI from DirecTV, I've been able to get it discounted, i.e. a retention CSR rep give me a one time general retention credit with my agreement to pay NHL CI in a lump sum. Granted it's only ever been $50 or $80 credit, but I'll gladly take that.

Last week removed auto-renewal and got $10/12 mos. Today called and said "when is my contract end date?" (the new "cancel service"), nice guy said he was resolution department. When I was hardcore about credits, I'd hang up until I got a female, but I stuck it out with him. Asked about...

A retention CSR gave you Playboy TV free for 3 months? Seriously? I just find it odd that there would be any Playboy TV freebie. Anyone else ever get a Playboy TV freebie from a CSR?

The ONLY reason I personally ever sub to the sports pack is because I live out of market from my favorite hockey team, so I subscribe to NHLCI to watch their games, BUT I'd like to also watch the postgame shows, but those aren't on NHLCI. If you're out of market, you need the sports pack for that.

Well, best days to call are Mondays and Tuesdays (not just NFLST, but for anything related to discounts/credits on DirecTV). Retention CSRs have a number of credits per week, and they get reloaded when the week starts. If I have a crap call on Tues morning, then I don't call again until Monday...

See my post above and stoutman's reply, I believe the schedule is wrong. CSN-CA has the Sharks feed in HD, which is likely the only feed on DirecTV NHLCI (actually I'll say it's the only feed for D NHLCI, period. No way DirecTV's NHLCI is picking up TSN instead of a CSN-CA HD remap for the...

That schedule better be wrong as I'm an out of market Sharks fan. Last season if a Sharks game was on CSN-CA HD (Their local affiliate Comcast Sports Network - California), that feed was available on NHLCI. All Sharks games are in HD this season, second consecutive season. I'm gonna be ticked...

Signed up for DirecTV Nov 09, had NFLST discounts in 2010 and 2011. Never sub to premium channels, always pay on time with auto bill pay, always get NFLST and NHLCI. 2012 got it (NFLST MAX) free with 1 yr committment. 2013: (Called retentions of course) 1st call this past Monday: no dice...

So what does DirecTV mean when they have those ads now that say less than $2 per game? How are they calculating that? Or am I viewing that ad wrong?

Anyone else call in yet? I think we have one report of a retention CSR who made it free with a credit to cover the $60 cost. Just wondering if others are getting this or similar deals from retention CSRs.

So it is confirmed that on DirecTV, it will be a 2 week free preview of NHL CI?
  13. DIRECTV Programming
So has anyone tried to speak to a retention CSR to see what kind of deal they can get? If it's $60 for the year for NHL CI on DirecTV, one would think given the past history of CSR roulette with sports packages that getting a $20 Gen Retention Credit should be easy, if not $30. I would think...

Anyone try calling or is everyone waiting for this be official (i.e., when the NHLPA ratifies the CBA too)?

LOL, but for clarification, under the new "Everyone in the US gets to see all NHL playoff games" playoff games were on NBCSN, CNBC, MSNBC and I think NHL Network. They weren't all on NBCSN (VS).

The NHL won't give a discount, but hopefully DirecTV does like they always do. Like regular price $99, but $50 for those of us playing retention CSR roulette. I'll take that and run...
  17. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Sweet! I've had issues in the old setup watching shows in the HT room off the living room DVR. If I still have issues watching HR34 programs on the HR22, I'll move the DECA adapter to the HR22 and get it in the DECA cloud. Thanks!!

Follow up question: Installer installed what appears to be DCA2SR0 at HR34. If I am right that it is not needed on my HR34, can I simply move that to the HR22, and voila, now my HR22 will be connected to the HR34 via DECA?
  19. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Got the new genie DVR and am confused by the installer. I think he's wrong on one thing, but he insisted so I relented. Here is the setup we set up (it's an upgrade, won't bore you with the pre-install set up but before we simply had two HR23 and one H21 all on unsupported MRV, no DECA...
  20. DIRECTV General Discussion
I discovered that you can watch the most recent new episode of Degrassi in HD on their website about an hour after it airs up until the next new ep airs...better than watching in SD on TeenNick!
